Wow! The new Caprice looks really nice. It looks different from the original Caprice. In my opinion, it looks better. The tailights a little like the Impala's. Overall, I like it.

Interesting Rescue for UVM, do they have their own fire department?

No, UVM doesn't have their own FD. The City of Burlington covers the campus. I heard that the UVM Physical Plant bought the old Ford. I didn't realize it became a confined space rescue. Anyone have any more info?

You are correct, that confined space rescue unit is owned by the UVM Physical Plant and is not afiliated with UVM Rescue. That truck is put on stand-by, on the scene of a confined space entry. The university requires a permit be submited to the Physical Plant so the truck can be staffed.

More info can be found here... UVM Confined Space Program

The Lamoille Demers Sprinter looks really nice! I have always been a fan of Demers and Sprinter ambulances.

According to the picture it is an AEV and not a Demers Sprinter.

He was right, I was wrong. The LAS rig is a Demers Sprinter.

Notice the ribbon in the link and the ribbon on the rig are the same.

I was finally able to see one a Sprinter in person a few months back and get inside it. It was an AMR Sprinter. It seemed roomy with lots of head room. The EMT that was nice enough to let me check it out didn't seem to thrilled with it. It does seem a little top heavy. I am curious what this truck would be like doing a transfer into Boston at highway speeds? I thought I had read somewhere that Acadian in LA etc was going with these trucks now for all their new ambulances. If I remember correctly was it based on fuel efficiency primarily. I think only AMR has gone with these trucks in the metro Boston area. Pro EMS had one but donated it to Cambridge, MA FD for their motor squad.

Anyone have any experience with these trucks?

As far as I know, the only other company in the Boston area with Sprinters is Armstrong. Brewster had one unmarked in its garage (a demo maybe?) when I interviewed there back in October, but I've yet to see it on the road.

My former EMS agency in South Central PA had an entire fleet of box style Sprinters. The first three were van style built by ALF. Two caught fire and the third was retired about 6 months ago and is being used for parts. Management loved them because they got in excess of 20 MPG. The providers hated them becasue the turbos continously blew, they were uncomfortable to drive and the configuration in the back was a poor design (that, however, falls back upon the design selected by managment). I stand at 6' 4" and 260 lbs, to have me and a medic partner in the back trying to work a code or a trauma was far less than comfortable. They just recieved 3 new sprinters, but I have been told by my former supervisor that they just placed an order for several new ambulances on Chevy 3500 chassis.

Attached is a photo I snapped with my phone of the 3 new Sprinters (not lettered) with some of the ones that were already in service (the ones lettered)

A.S.M., Campion, Aetna, and AMR ambulance in CT all have Sprinters. But, I've only seen pictures.
