Very tragic indeed. It is likely that various law enforcement agencies will be forced to review their policies regarding allowing media to get close to the action in certain types of calls.

I read a book (still available in e-Book format) called "The Jump Out Boys". It's about being a "COPS" cameraman, and the risks they knowingly take.

I think it is one of the few "media" outlets these days that really does law enforcement justice and reflects them in a good light. (No pun intended). It shows what LEO's go through on a day to day basis. There is a reason it's one of the first, and still the most pure of the "reality" genre out there. It's also one of the longest shows on television, first on FOX and now on SPIKE. We should be lucky that these agencies still let the "media" ride along, it is one of the best types of transparency there is.

Sad that he was killed, but he did the job knowing the risks that he would be faced with everyday. My prayers and sympathies go out to his family, coworkers and friends.
