  1. Is there a brick veneer on the first floor??
  2. The metal C- sections would allow them to span greater lengths without having support columns under neath than the wood. And they are probably using the steel to distribute the loads across and to the exterior
  3. The joist would not be so bad if the code dictated 5/8" Type "x" drywall in lieu of 1/2" drywall. This is one of several instances were the codes are archaic compared to technology that is out today.
  4. Local Jurisdictions can enact there own building codes. These codes would supplement the New York State Building codes. There are several municipalities that adopt code revisions. The people to talk to in your town would be the Building inspector or the Fire inspector, as well as council members.
  5. The building skin is Oriented strand board or OSB, It is composed of fibers of wood glued in random patterns
  6. the cost factor of saving the building doesn't make sense the building should be brought down with the bricks salvaged and incorporated somewher into the new firehouse design.
  7. Great concept but not sure how practical it is
  8. Back in the early 2000's PCVAC was set-up for the helicopter to go on stand-by for a call of that nature, but since then I know there have been changes to all the pre-plans at 60 control
  9. I just recently moved to dutchess cty (fishkill) in the area of brinkerhoff elementary and looking to join a department but don't know who any help will be greatly appreciated
