  2. I wish the brother from EFD, L-916 much luck. Rich will tear the District apart. I know my president already reached out to Shawn in regards to this situation. This has got MaryLou Conrow written all over it. She is an evil individual coming to a job near you, beware. But as grotesque as a person as she is, she's not the one making the decision to fire FF Maldari. The article seems pretty clear cut and firing FF Maldari on an "off the line for one year" technicality seems petty, unethical, immoral and plain right stupid. Is there more to this story? Good luck brother Maldari, we're in your corner.
  3. I remember that Sunday afternoon like it was yesterday, listening to it and watching it on tv at work as a probie. Those 3 funerals were my first LODD experiences and what a profound impact it has had on me. I believe 15,000-20,000 brothers attended the funerals, one on one day, two back to back on another. Who knew, what would transpire less than 3 months later, where it was impossible for that type of turnout at each funeral over that following year. I hope Downing's, Fahey's and Ford's families are well. I believe there were 8 children amongst the 3 Men. I wonder if any have followed in their Father's footsteps or plan on doing so. Hope they had a peaceful day, God Bless the Men and their familes.
  4. Brothers, due to the inclement weather anticiapted for this weekend, please be advised that this Sunday's location of the 3rd Annual Patrick Joyce Memorial Benefit has been changed from Scout Field in Bronxville to the Police Athletic League (PAL) located at 127 North Broadway, Yonkers, 10701. All of the other aspects of the event remain the same.
  5. Line of Duty Death: City of Yonkers Firefighter Antonio C. Rodriques, Ladder Company 74 The Yonkers, N.Y. Fire Department regrets to inform you of the line of duty death of 48 year old Firefighter Antonio C. Rodriques, a twelve year veteran of the Yonkers Fire Department. Firefighter Rodriques passed away on the evening of Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at Westchester Medical Center, Valhalla, N.Y. where family, friends and his brother firemen sat vigil by his bedside 24/7 for the past two weeks. Firefighter Rodriques was hospitalized on July 18, 2012 as a result of injuries sustained on May 9, 2012, while on duty and conducting Department training. Firefighter Rodriques was the recipient of 6 Departmental Commendations during his career and was a lifelong resident of Yonkers, N.Y. Firefighter Antonio C. Rodriques is survived by his beloved parents, Celeste and Celestino Rodriques, his older brother, Lester C. Rodriques, his sister-in-law Anna Maria Rodriques, his niece, Nicole Rodriques, his nephews, Matthew and Alex Rodriques, and his girlfriend, Amy Krawczyk. Firefighter Antonio C. Rodriques took part in many life saving rescues during his career, and through his death, he saved still more. Firefighter Rodriques' organs were donated to several recipients through the New York Donation Network earlier this morning. A full Fire Department Honors wake will be held at Flynn's Funeral Home at 1652 Central Avenue in Yonkers, this Friday, August 3, 2012 from 2pm - 9pm. 6. To comment on 87D124's post, how can you advise people who want to know the "TRUTH" to contact the owners/operators, etc. of Empress for the TRUTH? Wouldn't they have to contact all entities involved to do some research and hear about the different figures, plans, etc. given to the different groups? First and foremost, nobody in the YFD, the Firefighter's union or the Fire Officer's union blame anyone in Empress for anything, as you insinuate in your "TRUTH" posting. Furthermore, the rumors are NOT being spread around by people who are angry with the City Coucil about budget cuts because the City Council didn't/doesn't come up with the cuts. The fact of the matter is that the City Administration are telling the democratic City Council members one thing, the republican city council members another thing, the YFD another thing, Empress another thing, the firefighter's union one thing, the fire officers' union another thing and then the press yet another thing. No one was angry with the City Council about the budget cuts either because as I mentioned earlier, they did not/do not propose budget cuts. The mayor's office proposed the cuts with "HIS" budget. The city council then has to review the information and either pass it or send it back to the mayor. Anyone wanting to know the "TRUTH" would have to be in the room with all of the entities involved and that would never happen (even though it was requested). It wouldn't and didn't happen because how can those in charge of a city give the truth or honest answers to any of these entities when they don't have a real plan nor the first clue about operations, safety or the health and well being of the citizens?
  7. If you haven't already seen this, check out "This Public Pension System Works" on YouTube. It's a quick 3 minute clip from the NYS Comptroller's office and it's very informative. It exposes some realities and truths which are contradictory to the rag reporting you find on Snooze12 and in the Journal Snooze. If you ever wonder why their reporting is so one sided and more often anti-labor, ironically, they are trying to secure their own contracts with cities and municipalities to be able to broadcast, operate and distribute their product. Who do you think they negotiate with? That's right, the mayors and managers of such cities and municipalities. Why do you think we always here the city's/municipality's full side and you only hear mere seconds of labor's rebuttals? Dishonest and corrupt "journalism" at its best.
