  1. Do you remember or can you get the specific agency that gave the grant?
  2. My department is finally moving forward with starting the process to restore our 58 Mack Pumper. My question to all is 1) Any recommendations who to use? 2) How did your department fund it? (Grants, fundraising, taxpayers etc)
  3. Thanks all
  4. I have thought about using a drafting hydrant with a PIV, post indicator valve. This way you can see when the water is off or on. The only down fall to that is then the hydrant needs to be pumped out. Using a standard pressurized hydrant seems to be the way to go, but still researching my options
  5. What is everyone's thought: When installing a drafting hydrant that is to be located below a water source and feed by gravity, what kind of hydrant is to be used and why? I have several thoughts and scenarios just want to determine the best for an ordinance that is being drafted for my municipality.
  6. My department would be interested
  7. Now that sounds like a great idea.....I have been asking for this in my county!
  8. The most common way to remove contaminated sediment is by burning it!
  9. @MFD82 If your that concerned put the cable and or phone in your name
  10. If anyone is looking to help out over 400 FDNY members affected by Sandy here is a non-profit that directly helps FDNY members The New York City Firefighter Brotherhood Foundation https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=EJPH33EWXYV8W
  11. That's outrageous.....should of joined the FD
  12. It's a shame the BS and politics involved in calling M/A. It's only a matter of time before a lawyer gets ahold of a particular incident with major property damage or a life was lost b/c an IC did not call the nearest resource. No matter your location the story is the same. I feel the easiest way to solve this is to relieve the IC of having to deal with getting the right resources. The dispatcher would be told a particular alarm assignment or how many and type of units being requested. This allows 911 if regional to properly allocate resources and allows the IC to concentrate on the tactical concerns.
