Warwick (Orange) - 2nd Alarm Structure Fire - 03/31/15

4 posts in this topic

Date: 3/31/15
Time: approx. 17:45
Location: 6 Sarah Drive
District: Warwick FD
Units: Warwick FD (E-634, E-635, E-636, R-637, TA-639, M-644, Car 1, Car 3), Pine Island FD (E-651), Warwick EMS (203, 204 (rehab), 205), Warwick PD

Description: Initially dispatched as a possible structure fire. PD arrived on scene with smoke showing, confirming everyone is out of the building. Warwick car 1 on scene reporting split level ranch, fire in the kitchen, requesting a second alarm. Fire quickly knocked down and placed under control.

I do not know who filled the F.A.S.Team, or the truck (was not on scene) since Warwick's truck is out of service.

That is a very very long ride for Washingtonville (18.1 miles and google maps say 34 minutes). I am pretty confident that there were closer resources.

I mapped out the response from the fire scene to the nearby agencies with trucks this is what I found

1. Chester Fire 17 minutes

2. Goshen Fire Department 19 minutes

3. Slate Hill Fire Department 19 minutes * FAST

4. Greenville Fire Department 22 minutes

5. Mechanicstown Fire Department 25 minutes * FAST

6. Monroe Fire Department 27 minutes *FAST

7. Middletown Fire Department 28 minutes

8. Washingtonville Fire Department 29 minutes *FAST

9. Circleville Fire Department 29 minutes* FAST

Depending on what was going on in the rest of the county with calls and apparatus out of service, Washingtonville FAST might not be such an unusual occurrence. Slate Hill as FAST is pretty common, even to calls on the other side of town where it is a 30+ min eta
