  1. Eastchester FD Board approved the purchase of a Pierce 107” single axle ladder to replace L16; the current L16 would replace L15 (1980s Seagrave I believe) as spare.
  2. First of three new Pierce pumpers to be delivered to Eastchester
  3. In an event like this, does the trucking company, or their insurance company, get billed for time and/or materials expended by the YFD?
  4. And don't forget GE sold off the majority of GE Capital. There will be a lot less jobs that supported towns and real estate values in Fairfield County. property taxes, sales taxes, incomes taxes are all going to be impacted
  5. With picture this time.
  6. FDNY staging additional engine and ladder with L4 an E54. Caravan of 10 ambulances on 8th Ave, with one peeling off at each street to stage.
  7. Caught part of an Eastchester board meeting where they said L15 was having issues passing certification and started discussing commencing the process towards the purchase of a new truck. Did the issues with L15 get resolved (believe I have seen it listed on incident reports since then) or any movement towards the purchase of a new truck?
  8. this rig was listed for $200k earlier this year and has now been reduced $60k to $140k. Listing on Hemmings. The original listing said it was purchased for $235k at Barrett-Jackson.
  9. As a tax payer in the town of Eastchester, my sense is the officials in the town and the two villages do not want to get involved. They view the EFD as a separate entity. At one point I asked one of the mayors for their view on the consolidation concept and they would not address. The residents of the town and villages do not understand the $14mm operating budget. Let alone the capital needs. We have no working ladder. Will the tower get more wear and tear so are we talking well over a million dollars if not closer to two to replace both within a short timeframe? And then the engines. Except for E29, they seemed to be acquired in a relatively short time frame. And the fire houses need Improvements. Absent a sad event demonstrating the needs of the department, I am not sure how we get the residents to understand. And we are talking about a deparment in one of the weathiest areas in the country with what seems to be substantial neeeds! My impressions may not be correct and I welcome correction. But sadly I think I am not that far off. We have a new commissioner this year and a new chair of the board. Maybe we will see improvements.
  10. This is a curiosity question from a newbie (ok, naive question?)... For incidents like this, how much fuel do the rigs carry and how long can they operate for? I see the EFD rigs refueling often while at TYA fields so keeping tanks topped is obviously important. Is it feasible given the fire scene to re-fuel (e.g., the guys who re-fuel construction equipment at a job site to re-fuel at a fire scene)?
  11. I was on Route 1 in Norwalk today and saw what looked like Hasting's old ALF tiller at the station. Did Norwalk purchase or using for training?
  12. Yes, Dennis Winter was re-elected in Eastchester.
  13. Was this White replaced by the Brockway rescue or was there something in between?
  14. I wonder if Con Ed can help expedite the approval process within the FDNY for resources as it was their assets?
  15. Any update on delivery and/or in-service. I was by the Bronxville station the other day, and the only rig was Shrek (L-15 was not in there either).
