Nothing for nothing, but when I was young we didn't care about a winter storm. If a nor easter was coming mom told me I had to get the snow blower out. Anytime it snowed I had to get up and help the 74 y\o bus driver put the chains on the bus because her hands couldn't do it in the cold. People stayed home or put chains on the car to go out in the snow.

It's snow, it falls, and we bury ourselves out of it and move on. Why do we put out the alarm and batten down the hatches for something that is suppose to happen in the north east?

Yeah a snow day would be nice. I have a feeling they might try to sneak us in for the AM (until 10) then send us home, that way credit is granted for the day.

The school by me is doing an early dismissal (10 high school, 11 elementary school). However, since it says the snow is going to start at around 9am, I don't know how well it is going to work out.

Swing by your local supermarket tonight. People freak out like they're going to be snowed in for weeks. Blizzard of 96 was a pretty bad one and within 2 days life was pretty much back to normal. Ice storm in New England this year. Thousands still without power, but within a day all major roads were open and two days later just about everything else was open. Life goes on, yet people continue to over react.

THE NEWS THE NEWS THE NEWS.... Anything to make something out of nothing... If we stopped watching the news people wouldn't get so overly excited. The Blizzard of 96 was bad and the one in March of 93 (my son was born that weekend) but we were all back to normal a few days after it began.

I think its a conspiracy... Home Depot and Lowes pay extra money to have them (the weather people) hype up he storms so everybody goes and buys snowblowers, salt and shovels...

Snowstorms don't bother me. Ice storms are a different deal. I was upstate in 1998 and wow, what a mess. When they forecast significant icing, I buy a little bit more when I go grocery shopping. For the snowstorm, my preparation was to find my brush that I took out of the truck in the spring.
