Good old Engine 4in Chester Heights. It served till 85/86. I know my brother and a few others tried to buy it but the commishioners rejected their offer. The spare that was kept in Bronxville if I remember right. I have pictures of both and will try to scan and put them up. However I thought they were older then 55'

I bought the 1949 Amercan Lafrance 700 from Eastchester [gas] in 86, sold it in 1999 to make room for the B-95 Mack ! looking for photos !

For the fiscal year 2011-2012 the WPFD is budgeted for 161 man job (what a dam shame, not enough at 171 and now 10 less, thats another conversation) but they are currently short of that due to the economy. YEAH RIGHT, THE ECONOMY, WP JUST BROUGHT IN OVER 50 MILLION DOLLARS, YES 50 MILLION DOLLARS IN SALES TAX. BUT STILL COMPANY CLOSURES DUE TO A LACK OF MANPOWER, WHAT A JOKE.

Of that $50 million, doesn't Approx $32 million go to the school district and $8 million to the county?

If thats the case the City share is $10 million. I bet the public safety budget is 5 times that.

Nice photos, thanks for sharing!

Ditto!

Having grown up in White Plains and having seen all or most of that apparatus in action, the photos and comments here are incredible. What a terrific place White Plains was to grow up in.

The photos taken from inside the bay at Station Two. Wowee. I could close my eyes and it's 1964 again. :D

I was behind a guy in the checkout line the other day. He had on an old faded FD T-shirt with a picture of a 1950s era open cab Seagrave.

Does the White Plains School District get part of the sales tax money, or are they funded through the property tax assessments?
