Just delivered to the NJ State Police, an Agusta 139 with winch and FLIR. Apparently going in service with NorthStar when pilot training is complete.

What kind of services does njsp aviation provide ?

Texastom791 - One of the biggest services the NJSP Aviation provides is as a Medivac Chopper. There are two in the state. Northstar is situated in Newark while Southstar is in the Camden area.

They are also a law enforcement resource and can respond to pursuits, searches for lost, missing, or wanted persons, and (judging only by the hoist on the new 139) perform some rescue work.

FYI this is the same airframe that Maryland State Police Aviation has on order to replace its front line fleet of 7 Eurocoptor Dauphins.

It was previously discussed here: Link to EMTBravo Thread

It's still unclear to what extent they will be using the new choppers for medevac missions....most helipads in NJ/PA are not certified to accommodate its weight...

Rescue operations are based out of Trenton-Mercer Airport and reportedly a rescue qualified crew can be mustered on all tours.
