Great later model Maxim from Ossining. Question about this rig. If I am not mistaken this rig lasted into the 2000's? If so di the guys still ride the back step? I think it had hose bed bench seats...did they ride up there?

Basicly it was untouched. Below is a pic of it with the replacement Seagrave Ladder 12 (1984 I believe)

post-4072-0-52501700-1376667025.jpg

Its last day in NR found it parked behind Sta. #5. We helped a volunteer crew from northern Vermont get ready to drive it to its new home. They were so thrilled as it was the 1st ladder they would ever have in there county. They drove it home in a snow storm, changing frozen drivers & tillermen every 20 minutes or so.

I was lucky enough as a young member to hear the stories from the then old timers who had served their early years with this engine

Port Chester 1935 Seagrave , Reg. # 8089   Reliance Engine & Hose Co., No. 1

Seagrave Factory Photo

Purchased in 1936 by the village as a used 1935 demo engine from Seagrave with the deal made at the NYS Chiefs Convention

I heard more stories than I can count about this rig, it was apparently the last engine sold by Seagrave with single rear wheels which led to some wild rides
