Sweeney is out already? Wow, seems like it was just yesterday he took that job. What happened?

Word is floating around the FDNY that Sweeney is coming back in some Staff Chief capacity. There's even a Sept. 1st date rumor. So, is there any more word in YFD if he's leaving?

Yes he has resigned going back to FDNY to be #3. The heat in Yonkers was more than he could bear.

Understood you're glad to see him go and we're glad to have him back.

When you say #3, can you be more specific? COD Kilduff isn't leaving yet, Chief of Ops Esposito isn't either. Chief of Training, Galvin hasn't announced anything either and that there is #1, 2 and 3.

Probably better off leaving there anyway. Im sure he's making a lot more with less bullshit!

No way. He was collecting his FDNY pension, which must have been well over 100k, plus the 175k+ he was making in Yonkers. If he goes back to FDNY, he'll have to give up his pension, for the time being.

Definitely won't be Chief of Staff to the FC. That's a uniform position.....and would be a major step down.

The job of Chief of Staff is listed in Indeed.com as a Deputy Commissioner position. Salary range between 89K-201K. Once he is gone from FDNY for two years, he can apply for a full salary waiver. He left FDNY two years ago August or September.

It appears that it will be the 3rd in line civilian position. Fire Commissioner, 1st Deputy, and then Chief of Staff. If the rumors are correct that Bob Turner will be 1st Deputy and Sweeney will be Chief of Staff you will have 3 very senior veteran fire officers as the top 3 civilians in HQ.

Don't know who this "Bottom of Da Hill" guy is but he has no idea what he is talking about when it comes to how YFD fights fires.

Just sayin that cause Sweeney didn't do anything to "change the way yonkers fought fires"
