  1. I have to agree with you. What everyone here fails to realize is what I said before. In NYS your employer really does not need a reason to fire someone. You are an AT WILL employee and they can fire you on a whim. No reason given. It happens every day.

I think this may help people working in municipal jobs like dpw. If the supervisor is anti volunteer there can't be any punishment for responding on a call before or during work

  2. As per Merriam-Webster:

Main Entry: 1pro·fes·sion·al Pronunciation: \prə-ˈfesh-nəl, -ˈfe-shə-nəl\Function: adjective Date: 16061 a : of, relating to, or characteristic of a profession b : engaged in one of the learned professions c (1) : characterized by or conforming to the technical or ethical standards of a profession (2) : exhibiting a courteous, conscientious, and generally businesslike manner in the workplace<BR itxtvisited="1">2 a : participating for gain or livelihood in an activity or field of endeavor often engaged in by amateurs <a professional golfer> b : having a particular profession as a permanent career <a professional soldier> c : engaged in by persons receiving financial return <professional football><BR itxtvisited="1">3 : following a line of conduct as though it were a profession <a professional patriot>

and before the question is raised.... Profession:

1 : the act of taking the vows of a religious community<BR itxtvisited="1">2 : an act of openly declaring or publicly claiming a belief, faith, or opinion : protestation<BR itxtvisited="1">3 : an avowed religious faith<BR itxtvisited="1">4 a : a calling requiring specialized knowledge and often long and intensive academic preparation b : a principal calling, vocation, or employment c : the whole body of persons engaged in a calling

Being paid is not necessarily part of the primary definition and really..... you did not have to go there.

    He's acting professional

  3. At the plate, health care reform. On deck, immigration reform. No telling where thi is heading but can't be good for us average Joe's. I know Obama said illegal immigrants would not be covered under his health care bill but its odd to me the next task is immigration reform and rights. Maybe if they vote against the volunteer incentive bill the country will be OK.

  4. I believe in a past thread someone had tried to contact WCDES about the TRT with zero response. Since when is asking questions repeatedly DEMANDING?(your words) So you are trying to tell me that this forum is not the place to ask these questions about the team but yet there seems to be many guys on here that talk the talk about what this team can do. You know what Ladder55, you are right, thi

s is not the place to ask about the county TRT. Maybe if we don't talk about it or ask any questions it will go away. Thanks for YOUR opinion on this.

Simmer down big Guy. I'm not trying to step on your toes or anyone else's. If someone contacted wcdes then great, but if nobody on emtbravo has the correct answers then I would expect no answers.

  5. And still NO answers to the questions asked by Chief Flynn, Chief Fitz or Capt. Nechis (to name a few) about the county team. Yet we still have those "here we go again" posts. I may be crazy but wouldn't all this back and forth about it stop if someone (in charge) from this team just answer the questions? If anything, the only "here we go again" posts should be about questions NOT being answered, NOT the fact that questions are being asked about the county team. Yes? I see this discussion being closed before those questions are answered.

Perhaps asking questions on emtbravo.com is not where your going to receive answers. Perhaps DEMANDING answers is not the right way to ask. Perhaps asking questions then ripping the team apart verbally is a reason they haven't received answers

    P.s

    This is my opinion

I have zero affiliation with this team.

  6. You mention we have learned a few times in your post but who is we? Do you mean volunteers are learning why we volunteer? I agree that the volunteer fire service has it's issues, and on this site they are talked about constantly but what about the positive? I'm sure there are a low percentage of volunteers that do this with the wrong intentions but the great majority of volunteers do this for ALL the right reasons
