    The one object/job that we need to expand on a little more is from a recent article in Fire Service magazine:

    Lighting is a big job for FAST/RIT operations, to enhance and create a more visible egress for our fellow brothers/sisters. This is a job that really doesn't get done at scenes that I have been involved with and will enhance operations and assist possibly firefighters in distress. By simply placing a Litebox or vulcan at a doorway, whether the flashlight portion or the blue LED rear facing lights, this will create a manageable egress point. Not only does this help in distress issues, it also gives a firefighter a way to judge a way out if needed. As you enter a fire, you should always remember to the best of your ability of your surroundings, and not to guess when the s--t hits the fan.

    This new addition will even better complament Montrose FD's already impressive equipment. With E122 being what I like to call "tank" because of it's short wheelbase and maneuverability, this engine also looks like it has a short wheelbase as well which will serve their tight driveway district well.

    Good job in this newest purchase, my only question is why did you decide to go for the 3rd engine rather then a Mini-attack or utility? either way great addition and cant wait to check it out at MFD. As always good job MFD!!

    In my career dept. we have "mandatory" PT time, and its too everyones benefit. Whats the #1 firefighter killer, heart attacks, so let the boys/girls workout so maybe this can be prevented and hopefully we can change these stats. I hear ya, BI's suck but it's our job, so do that work and then take your hr. of PT also. Every Dept. should encourage their firefighters to do PT, not deter it. The better shape your in the better production you will get and the more energy you will have. Just my two cents.

    In Westchester County, the Montrose VAFD has their Marine unit in service year round. The boat is not docked but can be deployed quickly once dispatched. Depending on the tide, Marine 21 can be launched off of the boat ramp on the Hudson River, or most scenario's trailored to Georges Island (Dutch St.) and launched from there. But Marine 21 has made a few responses when other Marine units are OOS due to seasonal conditions. Remember FDVA is just a call away!

    From my residence in Buchanan, the storm was unreal. Lightning show better then Macy's 4th of July fireworks display and incredible thunder. While on my porch I heard a loud clap of thunder and it looked like lightning struck something, 5mins. later Buchanan with TriVillage response. Since I knew it was close I took a ride, and got to observe BFD knocking down a shed fire, good job to BFD the homeowner was fortunate that it didnt strike their house. Crazy storms I tell ya!!!

Due to a large numbers of incidents within area, M/A coverage to standby for OVAC, with Briarcliff FD/EMS handling 1-for OVAC and OVAC all units operating at incidents, CEMS 55B1 standby for Croton and OVAC. CEMS to assist OVAC with manpower to WMC, both CEMS rigs on standby 1-in OVAC HQ and 2nd in CEMS HQ. What a day and great job by all!!!! Good teamwork by all!!!

    Sorry Bat 10, just expanded the Batallion a little..lol

    CROTON FD: FAST, well equipped Rescue, several TIC's available, engine with foam, engine with extrication equipment,engine with you name it (E119), Marine 12-fire/rescue boat, and 3300 gallon Tanker with 2 ponds and three dumps (one from each side rear, and 1-12" from the rear of the apparatus).

    CROTON EMS: MCI trailer to handle 50+ patients, Masimo Carbon Monoxide pulse oximeter on each rig (great for firefighter rehab, and CO incidents)

    Honestly I don't know the answers here, but something definitely has to be done for the best interest of our customers better known as the people bieng effected.

    Just a few facts to throw out, all of the firefighters at the VAFD just went through their Annual NYS Haz Mat Tech Refresher the last week of April, and if called today I believe the host agency would have had 4 maybe even a fifth crew member responding on dispatch in HM-3. Not really my place to speak any further, but if you had to ask me "waste of valuable resources"!!! Just last year each Department in Bat#10 had a chance to show their resources, and we did just that and I figured people would start using their heads and call the needed resources available now that they say it first hand. I guess I was wrong, shame on you Incident Commanders!!

    FDVA OPERATES WITH THE FOLLOWING:

    ENGINE 225- READY TO GO, AND EQUIPPED WITH TIC, MULTI GAS METER, PPV FAN AS WELL AS ENGINE COMPANY COMPLIMENT.

    MA28- BRUSH VEHICLE ALSO USED AS A RESCUE AND RIT VEHICLE. HAS VARIOUS AMOUNTS OF ROPE AND EXTRICATION EQUIPMENT.

    HM-3- SPEAKS FOR ITSELF, HAS AN ABUNDANT SUPPLY OF HAZ MAT/DECON EQUIPMENT AND A DECENT LIBRARY ON BOARD TO IMMEDIATELY BEGIN TO RESEARCH WHILE ENROUTE OR ON SCENE.

    Units Operating: CEMS 5512, 55B2, CPD CAR#30, 31 and several units from State Police, and other Dept's enroute

    Description Of Incident: EDP- (scene secure, then EDP violent/resisting)

    Reporters:

    Writer:

    Original dispatch for CROTON EMS for possible EDP (non-violent, scene secure) per CROTON PD units on scene. 5512/55B2 responding. CEMS units onscene entered residence encountered subject in scuffle with CROTON PD units. (subject become extremely combative) CPD units requesting assistance from CEMS manpower to relay to CPD HQ for additional PD units. CEMS relayed and additional PD units requested. Within minutes after 10-13 request, subject in custody. Slow down M/A PD units. Subject in custody, one officer being evaluated. 1 RMA SECURED and original EDP patient in PD custody, no other actions taken. State Police on scene with multiple units, all other M/A PD cancelled.

    **Great job by CPD officers on scene, handling a tough situation and minimizing further injury to patient, family, EMS and themselves. Reason why we should all verify scene is secure and protect ourselves. Because you never know when the s--t is gonna hit the fan!!

    Those controls were from the cab of the Genesis. WE were given training on the M7, Genesis, Bombardier cars, and the older coach. Great job by the MTA Safety Dept./FD, and many thanks to our brothers Asst. Chief Stinson and also Chief Streany for their input on the course.
