Geez, ya wanna drink in the firehouse......maybe we should also go back to rubber coats, or better still, wooden manual pumps you drag out to the scene.

OK, let's get a couple of things on the record here..

1) WAS, he's overcautious and not the most progressive doc we know, I'll agree. BUT, we all practice under his license-a.k.a. the source of his livelihood-he has the RIGHT to be cautious. We ain't that busy, and we don't do that many tubes, so he's hesitant about RSI. If we could show we were more aggressive with our CME and continuing education to show skills reinforcement and knowledge retention.....but we suck in that area. Fix it, and maybe he'll go for it. Want to carry more Versed? Make a strong case, with proof, not anecdotal evidence.

2) CPAP units that are patient triggered, with lower oxygen consumption, are on the market. The cost has come down considerably to the point where entry-level units are actually, well, almost cheap. All well and good. BUT: my points are similar to my arguements above. Also, when it comes to cost-make an arguement there too. If it benefits the hospital, it might make sense in the long run to acquire CPAP. Will they pay for CPAP? Probably not. Will they support us in its use? Yes, as long as patient/cost benefits can be demonstrated. Again, factual not anecdotal.

Apparently, the video footage includes an inside-vehicle shot as well....gives you the "oh s**t" look on the person's face, the Starbucks cup cradled in their lap sloshing over, dentures flying towards the windshield, etc.....

Try placing a UPS (Uninterruptable Power Supply) between the wall and your gear-it has saved me a LOT of grief-and the neat thing is if ConEd dumps the grid AGAIN, you can still watch Jeopardy for as long as the battery keeps going .

They have OLM and Westchester EMS vehicles at Galaxy for maintenance/repairs. Galaxy has a division called American Ambulance & Ambulette repair-sort of a spinoff service division.

I wouldn't worry about the picture being intercepted...the CDMA/TDMA formats used to transmit the digital information plus the compression algorhythms used to condense the info would prevent pretty much anybody but the NSA from getting a copy of the pic. With all the Nextels in public safety use in the county, I think using the picture Nextels on the way for MOI or patient presentation pix is an idea worth exploring.
