Anyone out there know the salary ranges for police officers in Greenburgh? What about the civilian medics? I've had no luck finding it online. Any insight would be appreciated.

I will be passing through Dublin the second week of September for 4 days and was looking for any advice on where to stay, where to go, etc. My girlfriend is doing a lot of the "research" but i sure could use some ideas. thanks in advance! (def. making a quick stop at guiness and jameson's)

You wrote that you "don't like to be clueless at the scene of dangerous assignments". I know "clueless" doesn't describes most of my HazTac partners. Just hoping it doesn't describe you either. Don't think we need the extra training from somewhere else in order to not be "clueless".

It is unfortunate. However, one guy i did OT with from HM1 put it nicely saying "too bad you guys don't get to be in the class. When i fall face down in the slurry i just mixed up you're the one i want knowing what it's made of, what it's gonna do to me and how to fix that."

roofsopen is correct. None of us in the HazTac ambulances (i'm on 12R) have taken the 'tech 2' class, regardless of what your, and my, certificate says. From EMS only the HazTac lieutenants have attended that class. They guys who were teaching the 'basic' class' went above and beyond what was required (at least when i took it). We pretty much did everything that was required for the tech 2 class minus mitigation, which i believe is an integral part. They made up for it by extra chem and bio (oh! the Krebs' cycle!!) Also, EMS HazTac ambulances are no longer responsible for decon operations. We are responsible for triage and patient care.

X635...word is the HazTac buses we're getting 2 years ago (not a typo ) are F-450 and will have an extra compartment about 2 feet wide between the cab and the pt. compartment that will house scot paks and whatever else we can squeeze in there.

He has 2 uncles in the dept. and his father is Chief Ingram, until recently, I believe, chief of SOC. Shouldn't really be a hard decision.

FDNY ambulance is part of the Dignitary Protection Unit. You should see a bunch as part of the motorcade this week.

NYC has proposed an insult for a contract. 7.66% over 4 years, with a paltry sum for longevity pay. All that while asking for vacation days, sick days, reducing the salary of dispatchers and reducing the refresher time. It's getting to the point where subway cleaners make more than EMT's and will eventually make more than medics.

The members of our union, Local 2507, will be holding a protest rally in front of City Hall on Thursday, Jan. 5th at 12 noon. Although no one is in support of a strike or any other illegal job action, i think maybe the public isn't quite aware of how much the administration takes us for granted and how much we keep on getting shafted, yet we continue to come to work, everyday. Let's hope the public hasn't started to take us for granted. It has now been over 40 months without a contract. If anyone on this board happens to be in the area we would love to have you stop by and show your support.

Because you have (or will) pass an EMT course that has defibrilation as part of its curriculum (and which you have or you will pass), then you are an EMT-D. I was under the impression there no longer are EMT-B's. The only rhythms i thought EMT-D's were expected to recognize were VFib, VTach and asystole.

Pretty much. You are working under that medical control's license, so whatever's done outside protocols has increased liabilty from the doctor and the provider (you). I know in NYC if telemetry suggest something outside the protocols (discretionary), you are encouraged to question the doctor if you are comfortable with said order.

I believe.........they print you out a document that becomes a temporary ID until the real one arrives in the mail. To take the written you will have passed the skills, so you can technically function as an EMT the following morning. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
