  1. Cruisers in Mamaroneck. They do the car decals for many police departments in the area also for chiefs car. They do a great job. If they didn't police and fire departments in the tri-state area wouldn't use them
  2. jklam thank you. Listening to the county for the respose of who was called and because I am curious what it was like that day on the radio here in westchester. If i was home in NYS at the time I would have been home or at the firehouse and listening to the scanner or radios and eveything else. I was in college at this point and had only been in my dept for a year. i don't believe listening to 60 will be hard or open old wounds. I know the stories of my dept response that morning and how they got the ball rolling just surious to listen to it. 4 years ago and seems just like yesterday.
  3. I am not looking for FDNY. I have heard some of the recordings from that day. i was interesting in Westchester County 60 control. Many departments if not all from Westchester responded that day in some sort of way. If not to the WTC then to other parts of the city.
  4. So how can I go about requesting that?
  5. I would be interested to hear audio tapes of 60 control on both 46.26 and 33.96 on that morning.
  6. Thanks x635. I heard the engine looks really nice. friend of mine saw some photos from one of the guys over there. I hope we get some photos on here soon.
  7. I thought that the voters of Harrison turned a bond earlier in the year to buy a new engine. I am correct right? and if so where did the funds come from? But thats great news that they have a new engine. Engine 12 is a nice rig and I know the other rigs were starting to age.
  8. I don't know how i feel about it i like the look but I think I have to get use to it. But what about photos? and also how can i see the most recent talked about topics.
  9. Rye Station 1 1908? with a 1977? addition the but renovations are underway

  11. If you have seen the movie "We Were Soldiers" when they are training in the beginning of the movie, they pick up a fire fight in Vietnam on their radio. I think the soldiers even states because of the atmosphere thats why they were picking it up. Soldiers standing around stunned at what they are hearing. A bunch of boys training in the states, getting ready to go over and you hear that-little scary. But it is amazing how radio waves can be bounced around the globe.
  12. Bravest was a show that aired after 9/11/01 Terror attacks on CBS channel 2 Sunday nights after the 11 PM news. It was basically ride alongs with Bravest around the country. Many episodes were right here in NY with the FDNY RESCUE 2 or 3? They would be in Washington DC, San Francisco as well if I am correct and maybe even Boston. It was on for, I want to say a year. Great show. They had cameras on the firefighters and would show you the conditions inside the fire. Experience the ride with the crew. Awsome show.
  13. City of Rye Engine 193 1981? Hahn. Most likely to be retired in the next year or two.
  14. The info on the City of Rye is correct and in 2001 the 1975 Seagrave tiller was replaced by a 2001 Seagrave single axel low profile 100 ft rearmount. The problem with the tiller was that, as 21 Truck stated 9 out of 10 times it wasn't going out. This annoyed the career staff and some of the volunteers that looked past tradition. Rye's Ladder 26 is somewhat in service. that is the 1985 Spartan tractor with 1955 Ladder. Tillers are nice for those tight streets and Rye has a few but the overall feeling in Rye is that everyone loves the new ladder 25 and it does the job; including getting down the tight streets. In Rye if they replace 26 which could happen soon it will NOT be with a tiller.
  15. I think MDT's would work well for career dept or combo dept. Or everyone could have them right in the station in the dispatch room or office. I could be wrong on this but just a thought.
  16. ON L.I. Sound Rye Police has 4 or 5 officers who are just assigned for marine Patrols. they operate basically 8am to about midnight with 2 boats. Rye Fire has 2 boats with 1 in the harbor that will go out at times and when dispatched. But because PD has the equipment and manpower right away the Rye PD will handle most calls. Mamaroneck Village is basically the same as Rye PD. These 2 Depts really handle a lot of LI sound in their area out to LI up to the CT border. Very active from May until Oct. Coast Guard is very thin on LI sound they don't have the manpower and local departments really help them out by having active marine patrols. Also New Rochelle we can't forget is also very big with patrols to the NYC border.
  17. Rye went from expeditions to Tahoes. Rye will soon have 3 Tahoes with command Post in rear and all. 2421 has FDNY paint scheme which was done by the past chief in 2001. the new cars will not have that I believe.
  18. Rye will be getting some new toys for the city soon. They will be replacing two of the three chiefs cars. Currently Rye has a 2002 Chevy Tahoe, 1997 Ford Expedition and a 1998 Expedition. In August 2005 Rye will recieve two 2006 Chevy Tahoes to replace the Fords. Also Rye is currently finalizing the details and specs for what I believe will be a new Seagrave pumper to replace the current Engine 192 (1987Sutphen). Rye currently has for frontline -Engine 191 (1994 Pierce Lance) Ladder 25 (2001 Seagrave rearmount) Money had already been approved by the city and passed. Just have to order the rig which sohould happen in the next few weeks.

  20. FYI Rye will be dispatched by 60 control on June 1. What we have been doing is the Ladder Chauffeur has been dispatching and then turning over phones and radio to 60. June 1 they will take over completely.

  22. Hey guys I didn't know where exactly to post this so I picked this forum. I was flipping through the channels apprx 23:45 hours sunday night when I caught CNN Headline News do a news report on Firefighters in the Northeast having problems with response times in the big cities. The report stated it was taking firefighters in the big cities 6min to respond to an alarm. The report said that the weather and beating firefighters have taken from working fires has caused the delay in response time. I think it also said the number of fires might be up. but while this report was being read CNN decided to show file footage from the Yonkers General Alarm last week. clearly stated "ABC news file footage Yonkers NY". This will make people believe that the Yonkers FD was delayed into that Box or that they did not respond on time. I am not sure this is true but it makes Yonkers look bad associtated with this type of news story. They didn't have to say Yonkers NY and could have still showed the footage. Plus if I am correct 1 person died in this fire. It did run 1145 at night. did anyone else catch this story?
  23. I believe with first appartus to the scene is what they were reporting. Sorry if i didn't make that clear. I wrote that post right after i viewed the story so it was late.
  24. Gentleman i stand corrected. Thank you for pointing it out.
  25. From my understand I heard 60 is telling departments they they want to get away from the 10 codes because every dept is using different 10 codes. we have departements using 10-75(FDNY) we never heard that up here until after 9/11. I also hear a lot of 10-84 these codes are not on the county 10 codes sheet. So i believe 60 got fed up and is temp. asking agency's to use plain english. makes sense for now. I think once new radio system is in place they will figure out 10 codes.
