My department goes 1&1 for a car accident, unless it comes over as a pin. Then we send 2&2. The engine goes in first, and we usually have the ladder pull behind and block the lanes behind the engine.
-
This is unreal. Someone is gonna die, and it is gonna be one of the brothers! How things like this can happen over and over in that department, and nobody gets in any hot water over it is beyond me.

Does anyone have a full run down on the 3rd alarm last night?

I call BS. I put in my address and some of these guys live in the middle of the water.

A guy at my job got killed in August of 05 riding to work. He didnt do anything wrong, wasnt speeding, a woman in a minivan made an illegal u turn right in front of him and he ran into the side of her car. He was also wearing a helmet! Some of accidents are not the fault of the rider! It sounds like this guy in Beacon had a freak accident. How fast could he have been going in the parking lot? The name calling of a guy who just died is totally uncalled for! Especially when we dont even know the facts of what happened.

I agree with you Rescue 17. I liked the main page b/c it was easy to use and search. But it seems like everything is still here. It just takes a little getting used to looking for it, but eventually you can find it.

Great photos. I remember when Yonkers used to have that little haz-mat truck. Keep them coming!
-
I dont know if we still have it, but up till last year the FDNY was using one as a spare. It was a double axle though. Last I saw, 44 truck had it for some time last winter. One of the best rigs ever, I want to buy one and use it as my family car.

Its amazing how being "pc" has ruined anything good. What a shame.

Who communications office does the FDNY report to when they are M/A in Yonkers, or in another other city they go into to help in Westchester?
-
This is some great stuff! I didnt realize with a busy day they had before and during that major fire!
-
Great pics of that fire. I lived on Ridge Ave then and was able to look down from my house up on the hill down on to nepperhan. Does anyone have the M/A rundown on this job? I never saw so many units at a Yonkers fire in my life. If I am correct, I think I remember seeing a rig from NJ.

My heart goes out to the brothers in the Vern. It is a disgrace how they are treated, and how that city is run. I get depressed just driving through that city, I cant imagine working there. Too bad they dont get paid the same as Yonkers. With what they put up with, they should.

One year ago today was the terrible Woodycrest fire. I remember getting to work that morning and seeing the news. It felt like getting kicked in the stomach. God bless the family that died that day.

Does anyone have pictures from the carpet warehouse fire on Nepperhan Ave from I think it was 93 or 94? I was at school just up the block from there and looked out the window and saw the huge smoke column. I almost ran out of the school to see what was going on.

Does anyone have photos of a garage fire that happened behind some m/d's on morningside ave? This happened in the summer in the early 90's I think. Sorry for the poor info.
-
Great stuff, keep the old photos coming!

I remember driving to work coming south on the saw mill river pkwy and seeing the huge smoke column. Reminded me of that hugh warehouse fire yonkers had on Nepperhan Ave in like 94 or 95 I think.

I think that 63 & 39 have been special called for M/A into larger jobs along the Yonkers/Bronx border. Does anyone know if they were one of the companies called for that large fire a few years ago on Bronx River Road? I know some engines and TLs were called to help spray some water.

Nice pics. I love the old pics from back in the 70's and 80's. Keep them coming.
