  1. In the flycar topic I made a statement in regards to EMS coming from (for example) the Bronx to Pelham. Then the question was posed: Why? Good question. Just wondering if anybody could shed some light on how EMS Mutual Aid is organized? Can a private EMS provider contract m/a with whomever they wish or are there any restrictions?

  2. First off, My thoughts and prayers are with the family, friends, and co-workers of both parties. RIP.

So if News12 WC shows shots of the wreckage, then does that make them disrespecful?

Good question. Now to be honest I'm not sure where I stand on whether or not pic's would be inappropriate. But regardless this is Seth's site, he said no, so let's end the discussion. If you wanna see pic's I'm sure they can be found elsewhere.

  3. Doug,

Good post. Talk about a rare warning. Well at least it look like rain is coming. Anyone have dates of past Red Flag Warnings in the NY metro area?? I think I heard this warning once before but it was way upstate during a hot dry spring. :-k Not sure though.

  4. I dream a dream when one day all emergency services (FD, EMS, PD and all those support agencies and people) can work together for the good of all mankind. A day when politics take a back seat to genuine need. When neighbors are friends who help where they can. Where relatively simple things are just that simple. When the people of a community (all communities) care about the place they live in (I know some do). And a day when I can get EMTBRAVO on my cellphone and/or pager!!!!

  5. biggest crime is someone coming in from the bronx to rob a house at night. it is a safe place to live and i don't think that there are to many cops here. i was born here and grew up here. never had a problem with the police and they all do a good job. north pelham needs the police, more commercial up there on 5th ave. Manor is residential, mellow area.

Ok first off I grew up there too and lived there up till a few months ago. The cops in pelham do a great job of hanging out. When there is a call they do respond but not always with the best attitude. The guy coming from wherever ( I didn't like the fact they had to be from the bronx) to rob a house is gonna happen from time to time no matter what! Merging the departments would not decrease the patrols, it will just mean instead of hanging out in the church parking lot on the esplanade they will drive a little more. North Pelham is pretty quiet just to let you know. The big commercial area is also probably the lowest crime area at night, cause it is center of town and lit up. And during the day maybe a shoplifter or youth issues. More commercial on Boston Post Rd if you ask me. If you like higher taxes and redundant police higherarcy( cause in reality you are talking about not haveing double of the bosses) good for you, but it is not in the best interest of the public. This merger is win-win.

Oh BTW if you are worried about a burgler I hear ADT is having a sale. If you think about that is the only real way to combat a break-in, and even they don't always work.
