  1. First off, I'm not defending any of these probies with criminal pasts. They should've never been hired. Period.

However, I do find it to be a double standard that the moderators came down with an edict stating "no discussion of problems or arrests involving firefighters who were off duty." I believe it was enforced after a firefighter was charged with arson, it may have also come down after another was charged with rape. The thread was quickly shut down, posts erased, etc. Yet here we are, on yet another thread discussing criminal issues and it's left to go on because it "relates to the job." It's a pretty blatant double standard, what's good for one side should be good for the other. I'm just saying, personally I feel it should all be fair game for discussion.

No Raz you got it all wrong bro...it's not that it relates to the job it is that it relates to Mount Vernon...come on what else would people have to talk about

  2. Sorry guys I have been AFK and am a little late here, but as I said to all my Met fan friends who were gloating just last week:

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.....

Now on to Hockey....LET'S GO RANGERS....anyone see them kick butt in Switzerland??

  3. That is very true.. he has been FIRMLY against it for almost 3 weeks now. For about 10 years before that, he actually supported many aspects of it. I guess that counts as strongly against as long as you are one of those people who don't let facts get in the way. If you want a list of the over 70 position changes he has had since going from "maverick" to "courting the right wing" you can visit http://www.thecarpetbaggerreport.com/flipflops?t=3 . Of course you won't, but it doesn't make it not true.

Guess what moron they have the same partisan BS type of sites for Obama too. How F**king stupid do you have to be to put a site like that up and use it as the backbone of your argument. I bet you are the type of idiot who believes in the 9/11 conspiracies too!! Listen It was Col Mustard in Den with the knife...

  4. CAM502, to clarify what you wrote, there does not have to be a hand-off only to a higher medical authority. It has to be an equal, OR higher medical authority.

For example, if you are an EMT-B, from out of the area, and you pull up on an MVA and assist, and another EMT-B from the local department arrives, you CAN transfer care to them.

As far as handing-off to a "higher" medical authority, an EMT-B cannot hand-off to a CFR, but a CFR can hand off to an EMT. Same goes for a medic. A medic cannot hand-off a patient to an EMT-B, unless the medic has declared the patient to not need ALS intervention, in turn making them a BLS patient, therefore, the hand-off to a "lower" medical authority is acceptable.

    Yes sir you are correct....

  5. As previously said, in NY YOU DO NOT HAVE TO STOP AND ACT AS AN EMT , MEDIC OR OTHERWISE. If you do stop and intiate patient care you must be relieved by a higher medical authority (IE: EMT hands off to the medic, Medic to a flight nurse or doc, etc...). Locals laws may differ. A town law may say a member of the local VAC must stop if they see something in town. If you are in a marked Emergency vehicle it is a different story.

Now as for this crap about sitting in quarters and still picking and choosing calls....your chief needs to get some....and kick them in the rear.

  6. Having had the honor to work at The Stadium for a couple of seasons I must say that walking through the maze of tunnels that is under the stands is awe inspiring. You never know what is around the corner. Or who is around the corner. When I first got my job there, they told me to talk a walk around and get a feel for the place. So i'm just wandering and next thing I know I pop out of a tunnel and I am in Center Field. Man what a thrill!!

And it is easy to get lost...that is why if you go back and watch again you will notice a blue line on the floor in some of the shots. The blue line leads to the clubhouse. Yellow went to others offices, and so on...these were put there for the new guys. :-)

  7. Starbucks is the worst coffee shop in the world....

When I go into a place and say "I want a large coffee with cream and sugar" I shouldn't be asked thirty more questions to get my coffee.

Besides Dunkin's coffee just tastes better...

  8. Are you guys for real? Those guys with the carts are just trying to earn a living. They go from parade to parade peddling there wares. You want them to have a permit, fine I can go for that but come on. Not to mention it makes the kids happy which is what the parades are really for....

OH and a ban on silly string is just freakin stupid...let the kids have their fun!
