  3. Now I'm sorry but if you are on-duty don't u think being naked and in some wierd position would delay your response?

So I guess when they hit the racks for the night they are sleeping in full uniform and bunkers on and everything..

    Nicholas,

Big difference than if you are having an orgie or whatever you would like to call it. When you hit the racks your gear should be staged so you get up, jump in your clothes and go. Not to mention in a paid department the Stationhouse is city property aka public property. What if a civilian came running up to bang on the door because the place down the block is on fire, should they have to see a bunch of naked firefighters doin it on the apparatus floor?? Listen man if you can't go to a office job and do this, why should our office be any different? There is a time and place for everything and not to mention common sense.

  4. Hey guys R U SERIOUS?

Ok if they were off-duty then fine tell them to get a room and get past it. But (and I am qouting the article) these were "accusations of on-duty group sex....in Station 12 and on a fire engine". Now I'm sorry but if you are on-duty don't u think being naked and in some wierd position would delay your response? :-k Even if it is just by two minutes, that is unacceptable. You are being paid to protect people's lives and property. Now I'm not saying that they should be fired on a first offense but they should be disciplined.

  6. just a quick question for the tax payers from pelham, are they aware that when pelham fd goes mutual aid to MV that overtime is called in to cover the pelham firehouse as the others respond into MV to either cover the city of MV who again abuses the mutual aid plan, like the mayor of MV says " my fire dept doesn't need more manpower,i have mutual aid"! heres something to think about, what happens when one of the pelham firefighters or another incoming dept comes in on mutual aid and he gets hurt and can no longer work as a firefighter? right now there is 2 firefighters from NR that are no longer serving the city of NR because of LOD injury from a MV fire? just something else to keep this subject alive. be safe !

    Hudson,

Well I started to type a big long response to this but instead I have just a question.

What do you propose be done (and keep in mind the FD doesn't control the politicians)?

  7. So as i said before, i was just curious as to why FDMV may have waited on the M/A call.

Ok here's the scoop they were on scene at 0334, all hands at 0336, 2nd alarm at 0338, 3rd alarm at 0340 also at that point the m/a was called for. Heavy fire on arrival on #2 floor. As u can see it got busy real fast and there was not much of a wait. As said before Good stop = turn back the m/a. Shantz hope that clears it up.

  8. no matter which way you spell it!!! its the same!!

who is the first to give it up.

In Greenburgh all of the fire Chiefs have over 30 yrs on the job. some hav a lot more  a whole lot  more.

Which Chief is going to retire to let the consolidiated chief take over??

whos kingdom will fall first do you think they are thinking of the " Greater good"

Ok first off it's not the same, but I'm not here to fight over it. Second off this new Chief's position should be civil service. So new job = new test. You get rid of anyone who is appointed and didn't have to test for the job, and whoever is left takes the test. Then you have one Chief of Department and the others become Deputy's or Battalion or whatever you wanna call them. I'm sure this new department will be large enough that you will have to split it like Yonkers or NYC do. Now this is assuming the merger would make a paid department, which it should be because the the area in question is too busy to have to wait for a crew during the day time. If the idea was for half and half then the merger just won't work(and i'm not bashing the vollies here so don't take it that way, all FD's do the same job, THEY SAVE LIVES.). Now I'm only talking about the lower Westchester study not Greenburgh so... well that's enough rambling. Just my take on things.

  9.  2) Kudos to Mt. Vernon for figuring out a way to rape the taxpayers of surrounding communities and having them pay for protection they are not willing to fund themselves.

    Hey WCFF,

Show me where it say's that the FDMV came up with the idea for this study. Last I heard it was the Chief's Association that wanted it done. Oh and by the way this idea has been on the table for years and most likely won't happen anytime soon, so don't get all hissy about it.

  10. let me get this straight, of all the fire departments in the US that have more then 1,000 calls a year, MV is number 4 in responce time. this shows how reports are misleading. it is easy to get there fast when the only guy on the rig is the driver.  just jump on and go, no need ot wait for other guys to get gear on and hop aboard.

First off you have never seen a FDMV rig show up anywhere with one person on it, EVER! [-X Second off Mt Vernon is a ton of people crammed into that 4 sq. miles just keep that in mind when you come down on them. I think the guys on the line do the best they can with the way it is and serve the people of Mt. Vernon well! =D>
