The new iPhone is being called the iPhone 4 not iPhone 4G because it doesn't have 4G support. AT&T's 4G network isn't really in existence yet.

  4. Rural Metro is the transport provider which they took over from Eastern Paramedics when they aquired that company in the 1990s. I think the cuse finally came to their senses and went red.

Yes, they have switched to red. Their new rescue truck is about 4 times the size of that old one too.

  5. Only a curbside door for the rear passengers?

I have never been a fan of this concept. I have always had a concern that god forbid someone blow an intersection as the rig is passing and they pin the crew door closed it would not be an easy exit.

  6. I'm pretty sure Mutual Engine's assigned numbers are either 103 or 104.

You are correct. 105 & 106 belong to The Independents and 102, 103, and 104 are the Mutuals. The rig pictured above served as Engine 104 from 1983 until 2007 when it was replaced by a Pierce. It is still currently in service as Engine 102!

You can actually see in the picture above right to the left of the side-view mirror before the crew window the vertical "104" in gold leaf.

  8. As much as i believe that it would make more sense for at least all FD and EMS agencies to be under one roof, you have to understand why they don't want to. Monday night when we had the wicked storm it took me about a mile and a half to be able to sign on as responding since at the time Mount Kisco, Bedford Hills, Bedford, Armonk and Chappaqua were all operating on Fire 16, and it wasn't because the dispatchers weren't answering, it was because it took me that long to get air space since i kept getting stepped on. Then you look at places like somers for example and you don't have to worry about stuff like that because they self operate on their own frequency.

  9. The thing is that most of the time an incident commander knows what his neighboring departments have, whether their ladder is a quint or not. Calling for a quint could actually end up screwing you over because it could be coming from further away as to where if you were to just call for 1 and 1 your response time would probably be better along with greater staffing. Call for it early and if you don't need it send it home. Don't run the risk of coming up short

  10. He said medevac choppers in Hartford, Conn., and New Jersey could also be called upon. Patients within a 25-mile radius of the hospital would get there faster by ambulance anyway, Yale maintained.

...that should end the somers debate.

I feel that losing STAT Flight in this area is truly detrimental. Having a MediVac in this area i believe is crucial (even if life net claims otherwise).

  11. Today on my facebook something from thefirestore.com popped up in my newsfeed. It was a video about a device that supposedly converts carbon monoxide to breathable carbon dioxide. It is called the Essex Last Chance Rescue Filter. I am wondering if anyone has ever heard of or seen the product or if anyone knows anything else about it.

If it works as it says it is a really amazing product, but could also lead to more problems if it malfunctions
