  1. I don't know all of the details, but it was originally a call for smoke in the residence possible from the fireplace. It was then reported as a chimney fire. U/A of units they found smoke in a bedroom; a 2nd alarm was put out bringing in additional resources from East Fishkill and m/a from Beekman & Rombout.. may have been another m/a company in there too. I believe the end result was fire in the wall caused from the Chimney. Sorry that's all the details I have; maybe someone from East Fishkill will have more details later!

  2. Congrats to all the Alamo employees! Hope you all have a wonderful and safe Holiday Season!! I'm sure this couldn't have been a better gift to get... just keep your heads high and do the best job that you can regardless of what other people have to say! B)

**MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR; BE SAFE AS IT"S THE WINTER SEASON AND OF THE CRAZY DRIVERS OUT THERE**

  3. I thought the test was not bad at all, and kind of easy. But somehow some of those questions got me to not get a passing grade; a little disappointing that I failed it non the less, but I's so glad I have other opportunites through the County Exam which I passed and I passed my agility! Good Luck to all of You who passed your NYSP exam and on future employment!! :):)

  4. I was also affected by this change; however I got the email that my morning flight going to Orlando was changed to later in th morning and then they changed my return to earlier in the afternoon. I'm not happy that they just did this out of the whim and I had no idea until now that they are downsizing their fleet.. it's an inconveniance that they have done this because my vacation time is shortened by a day and my return flight is not at Stewart, but in Westchester.. Stewart is way closer then White Plains to me. Grrrr I really hate the economy right now.

  5. Is it me, or are the storms getting worse in this part of the Hudson Valley?

It's not just you.. I was actually thinking the same thing about the weather. We've had more bad storms the past couple of weeks then we've had.. well really ever.. or as long as I can remember. We would get occasional storms here and there, sometimes bad ones, but never really this bad or so many bad ones in such a short time span. For me I like thunderstorms instead of just plain rain, so I enjoy it, but I wish no harm or property damage upon anyone.. and there has been alot of both the past couple of weeks and I feel bad for those affected and wish speedy recovery's and the best of luck on clean ups to everyone involved.

  6. Remember a few years back, maybe ten years Large forest fire in Canada and the smoke reached all the way to Westchester.. Ulster has their hands full with this one, Good luck...

Funny thing is I was actually telling someone about that incident years ago from Canada, before I came on here and saw there was a post about it.. it's funny how things like this bring back past memories <_< . On my way to work last night around 1830 I was looking at the sun setting and saw "clouds" in the sky", but I'm like hmmm that looks like smoke but there's no way that it could be.. guess I was wrong, especially since this has been one heck of a Brush Season for everyone. I found out at work from a co-worker about the Brush Fire at like 2230. Well I hope they can get a stop on this fire soon. If anyone is going with their Dept./from their Dept that was requested to assist Ulster Cty I wish you guys/gals a Safe Time out theren and the ones that are already there too. Stay Safe Guys and Best of Luck on trying to put a stop to this wildland fire! Stay hydrated and keep drinking lots of fluids and take breaks as often as they are necessary to keep you all safe.

  7. It would be nice to read articles/threads/forums without someone always trying to pick em' apart. I use to enjoy coming onto Emtbravo to check things out all the time, but now I don't come on as much because some people have turned Emtbravo into an argument site for themselves; it's one thing if the topic is suggesting an argument, but as in this incident it does not. On that note: I would like to express my "Everyone on that scene did a good job regardless if there were things that didn't go right, because everyone makes mistakes but we all learn from our mistakes end of story, so ALL DEPTS, AGENCIES DESERVE A SLAP ON THE BACK FOR A JOB WELL DONE!" The job got done, the main house was saved, and no one got hurt.. sounds like a very good stop to me and no reason to pick anyone of them apart for something that we see in a picture. GREAT JOB EVERYONE; YOU DID A FANTASTIC JOB AND MADE A GREAT SAVE/AND OF COURSE THE OTHER AGENCIES ON THE SCENE IE EMS, REDCROSS, POLICE, FIRE INVESTIGATION DESERVE.. A YOU ALL DID A GREAT JOB AS WELL; ignore the nasty comments and arguments some people on here are choosing to pic a fight/argument about.

  8. I'm pretty sure I have said this before and no ill will intended towards ya 585..you know that brother.

    WHO CARES!!!

One thing I can say from management perspective...I could care less if there was a PD that had all blue light bars. One agency doing something that isn't legal doesn't give the right for anyone else to run amok. Kinda like saying well the cruiser has a broken headlight so I shouldn't get a ticket for speeding. You were still speeding, their status changes nothing!

I still say more amber, knock off the laser light shows and LED sticks and crap....

Maybe someone can answer this question for me, I've never had a blue light and got to scene's just fine...what exactly is the sense of sitting at a red light with a blue or green light ablazin'? Why draw attention to yourself...without your just like every other maniac on the road..you'll still get to the scene and I bet maybe even a few seconds faster...blue/green light on...your a yahoo...nothing on...your just another a**hole on the road.

37 FF's have died in the Line of Duty already this year... better physical fitness support? Longer training curriculums? Better support and madates for comprehensive training programs within departments?

How many POV colored lights have saved a life this year?

I would have to agree with you on this alsfirefighter! The blue lights cause more attention to be made to yourselves' and the more the other' drivers will try to purposely piss you off because they don't care.. bottom line; I'm sure I'm not the only one that would agree with the fact that people, that are not involved in Fire, EMS, Police or any other emergency service, don't care where you a going and are more worried about themselves' getting to a baseball game i.e. Without the display of the blue light on Pov's you draw less attention to yourself'. I've found that NOT using a blue light has worked perfectly fine for me.. I get where I need to go just fine without it, but I don't think that it should be banned.

As far as the blue lights on emergency vehicles: I use to hate when I first started seeing blue lights on Police vehicles, but I actually like that they have them on their vehicles because you CAN see them from a farther distance and it gives you more of a warning they are there. However, I think that all emergency vehicles should be able to display blue lights in the rear and not just Police Vehicles. I hope that the appending law in NYS regarding' displaying Blue Lights on Fire/EMS vehicles gets passed, because it just makes sense.
