Once there was a lady moaning in agony as we entered the apartment she was complaining of stomach pains. I asked what she ate and if she went to the bathroom. She said, " It smelled so bad I had to use the spray!" Myself and the officer couldn't stop laughing.

Sounds like NIMS need to be revisited.....

I know this is late in the game but we do not need to send in anything beside the app and the check right? it says they will need residency proof and birth cert and such at a later date. When do they look at that stuff?Hopefully you are high on the list and then would want to check it for hiring purposes

Can anyone give me a clue as to what books are good to use for studying for the enterance exam
-
You will have to file with both White Plains Civil Service (March 15) is the deadline to file. You would then have to goto Westcher County Civil Service fill out an app.
(This would be cross filing)
You should be able to take it at either test site. Once you get the acceptance letters I would then call and make sure you are able to go to either site.

How is this unit to be utilized????

If you want ansswers to the questions about the exam. 1. check the exam announcment. 2 Go to a recruiting station. 3. Call the number associated with taking exam.

This would be great. Easier to use my buddy passes. Going out of LGA or JFK can well just be a pain:D

Looks like they do not schedule far in advance. Only goes a couple of months. Try calling.

Don't get me wrong guys, I agree liquor and firefighting DO NOT MIX. What I am saying is at events such as dinners etc where department money is not being spent on drinks should you be allowed to have it at your own or the members expence? What if you and a group are OOS and you either have a covering department or a detail to cover? What about sponsering an event and too much booze is served anf that person gets into an accident and decides to seek legal action. The Dept/Town would propbably be named. So using money from the dept would not be wise. HAve the guys wack it up.

our rule is your drink you don't go on calls alcohol at firehouses should be allowed due to let guys relax. but make sure you have a crew or crews that aren't drinking or have another company cover your area if it is some big event. You want to relax go on vacation. That is a terrible excuse.

I was a picture in a book of a 1967 Kaiser that was outfitted as a command post vehicle in the City of Yonkers. Does anyone have any information about this command post vehicle such was there it was housed, how long it operation. Does Yonkers still have it?Where is there Haz-Mat Support Unit 1986 Ford Tractor is station?
Thanks Fitz
What book was it in????

The only time I see this as being a problem is when you are working and take pictures. I do not want to mention people whom I have seen show up at a fire and instead of doing their job they are taking pictures. I have witnessed this with both PD and EMS

the windy city has two huge hazmat trucks that make that one look small.........if i am not mistaken FDNY's Hazmats or not small eitherI think you are right about the size of the Haz-Mat for FDNY. I think they only have one and it responds from the ROCK.
-
Give em the extrication tools/speedy dry/ and water then the FD would not have to go on the pkwy/hwys. Don't fprget a place for the stretcher.

Seth too bad the saleperson didn't get a commission since he seemed like the nicest person you saw that day.
I think all members should avoid that dealership since they don't treat people fairly.
I also bought a vehicle from Croton and they are very friendly. Also having used their Service Dept for routine maintence of my vehicle I would highly recommend them since they promise you car on time and go over everything they want to do to the vehicle and the reasons why they are necessary.

While there are good reasons to have this type of exhaust one drawback would be low trees. Up here in Northern Westchester and Putnam where you have to watch your top mounted ladders. I've never had it happen to me but I have heard where the low trees, especially in rain or snow have ripped ladders off trucks.Don't get me wrong, I think keeping the exhaust up high is a good thing but this type of system is not for everyone.
Also have to watch out for those larger telephone poles

This is always a topic of contention but here is another spin on it. How about belonging to 2 professions/Unions and when they are ready to lay people off. How many FF step up and say hey brother this is you main income I will get laid off rather than you. Something to think about?????

I guess it was more then just being a volunteer for those 12 who resigned. I guess it wasn't about what they did. Probably coaxed into resigning by the chief who was replaced. I wasn't at the meeting but I guess they picked-up their ball and went home. Hopefully Larchmont would consider hiring more paid people since the 12 do not like the fact their is a full time paid chief.
