WTNH is reporting that the junkyard is surrounded on three sides by woods, making it very difficult for fire crews to access the fire. Also there are no hydrants in the area. Last I heard it was up to three alarms. Looks like this one will be burning for awhile.

We got hit good in New Canaan, CT. Our day started at 16:00 hrs when a transformer caught fire on a main line coming in from Norwalk and blacked out most of the town. CL@P got the power back up around 20:00 hrs, just in time for the storms to knock it out again. We ran about 25 calls in about 8 hrs.

I just saw an article in the Norwalk Hour that said Crime was down in 2007 in Norwalk. Didn't get to read the full article though..

Just heard on the scanner that it is some kinda of commercial job, down by the water across from Partners Cafe. All City Fire units are working at the scene. Westport E2 and New Canaan E4 are covering the City.

Apparently Waterbury was hit pretty hard by the storms this afternoon. Channel 8(WTNH) News reported that there were 4 working house fires at the same time in Waterbury, all said to be caused by lightning strikes. They reported that mutual aid was brought in from surrounding towns to help cover calls in the city. Anybody have any more info on how bad it was?

Anybody have any info on the fire at Pat's Hubba-Hubba Restaurant in Stamford this morning??
-
I don't know of any changes in our mutual aid policy with Norwalk Fire for working fires. The mutual aid coming in is decided by where the fire is in the town. New Canaan is cut up into sections and each section has a SET response for mutual aid. Our dispatch center receives the info from the caller/IC and uses its CAD system to dispatch the appropriate Companies. Maybe there has not been any fires in the section that Norwalk is SET to respond too. I don't think the disconnect is on purpose... Just the location of the fires. Hope this clears up the issue. ?

I think it would be a good idea, if the site is having trouble staying up because of money issues. I have used the site for many years now and will continue to use it. I really enjoy it.
