What does EQ mean??Equipment Truck. My department took our old Rescue and turned it into an EQ once we got our new Rescue. Our EQ carries extra speedy dry, absorbent pads, foam & bio solve.

I don't even sign on Myspace anymore now that I am on Facebook. My graduating high school class has it's own group and we have 56 out of 180 graduates online in less then 6 months.

Here are some photos of the Fairchester Hose Haulers Muster from June 28th, 1980 at the Kensico Dam in Valhalla. I do not know who the photographer is/was as these slides were won on ebay a few years ago and unfortunately have no markings on them. Big thanks to Tim [TR54] for scanning the slides for me. Wish I had more to post. Enjoy !

Fire Commissioner Nicholas Scoppetta Announces Death of Probationary Firefighter Jamel M. SearsFire Commissioner Nicholas Scoppetta announced that Probationary Firefighter Jamel M. Sears died at Mt. Sinai Medical Center today, where he was taken yesterday after falling unconscious following completion of a training exercise at the Department’s training academy on Randall’s Island.
Probationary Firefighter Sears, 33, was appointed to the FDNY on July 1, 2008, and was enrolled in the 23-week Probationary Firefighters Training Program. He fell unconscious at about 11:30 a.m. after successfully completing an 18-minute training exercise where he donned full firefighting gear and performed a series of tasks and functional skills. Firefighters on scene tried to revive him but he never regained consciousness.
Probationary Firefighter Sears, a lifelong Bronx resident, was a four-year U.S. Navy veteran (1995-1999) and served aboard the USS Alaska. He also worked at TD Waterhouse as a customer rep and at Keyspan Energy as an operating mechanic prior to joining the FDNY. He graduated from All Hallows High School and attended Bronx Community College before enlisting in the Navy.
He is survived by his wife, Sherita, a New York City Police Officer assigned to the 41st Precinct in the Bronx, and their two children, son Mahlek, 12, and daughter Jya, 8.
Funeral arrangements are pending.

I was finally able to make it across the river to shoot this beauty. Special thanks to Arron [bosco252] from Sleepy Hollow EMS for taking the time to pull everything out of the barn for the photo shoot and to [Tim] TR54 for calling Arron to make it happen ! How about this sweet color scheme from Hazle Twsp., PA. Similar to Pearl River, but with green & blue instead.
Additional photos of Hazle Twsp.'s other rigs can be viewed on my website:

Some Yellow rigs from my side of the Hudson from Excelsior Engine Company of Pearl River. I think the ones with the Blue stripe look real sharp !

Anyone have any more photos to post ? I love seeing these classic photos of old musters from Westchester. I have a set of slides that I won off of ebay from the 1980 muster that TR54 is going to scan for me hopefully this coming week. Will post them as soon as they are done.

I must have missed this post on the website because of the lack of posts on it, but the City of Mount Vernon should be ashamed of themselves for selling these incredible pieces of firefighting history. Are they that hard up for $ ? Why not donate the collection to a Historical Society or the FASNY Museum ? I am a huge fire department memorabilia collector and bid on at least 30-40 items/lots that a company called The Weiderman Gallery based out of Herkimer, NY resold on ebay. I was fortunate enough to win a few badges and this beautiful FASNY Certificate from 1905. Anyone else from the area save some of this collection from going out of NY State ?

How much are you looking to spend ? Point in shoot or DSLR ?

great pics, but I would love to see some shots from inside... the pump room, pump panel, some of the piping ( I can imagine how they must have to lay it out ), the engine room...A few years ago on the NJ Metro Fire Photographers Association's Annual FDNY Bus Trip we were fortunate enough to go aboard Marine-9 and take lots of photos. If I can find them, I will post them !
