  1. So the guy blowing the rams horn from village to village is out?
  2. Being a jew myself I can speak freely. These individuals in almost EVERY aspect take advantage of the Earth. From the blatant violation of the sanctity of marriage to the flagrant misuse of the vehicle and traffic laws they just rape and pillage. I am so happy that I live in Putnam far from the filth that they call home in many towns in Orange and Rockland. I feel for all of you that must deal with these people with such a feel of entitlement. They use their supposed block voting to scare every single politician in to succumbing to their needs. We need someone with a set to just tell them to STFU get off welfare and stop playing games. All we need is a law stating that two people living together legally, and verified through surveillance, which I am sure we can get volunteers to do, shall not be the beneficiary of social services. Rant Over
  3. Could you guys make the fundraiser an open facebook event? I can not view it.
  4. The tests are to look at how ventilation effects the overall fire. But it isnt realistic as for us horizontal venting is only done by authorization of the boss, and in some cases when you hear water on the glass. My company went today, ill find out tomorrow what happened and how it worked out. They said 3 live burns for the day.
  5. Now what self respecting truckie would call an Engine to deliver a baby! Just lay out the cleanest bunker coat in the group and get ready to catch! I have to tell you guys, no one does a better job at dispatching then the FDNY. No one! I just wish we could get more info on our MDT then UCT-911 and an intersection sometimes. PD Communications is so lazy that its a cultural thing over there. Seriously, one day on my way to Medicals I took a picture of them congregating out front and the largest comes at me says what you doin'? I said showing my friends on the other side why they cant ever get good information! Needless to say I can run a lot faster then she could throw her newport at me and her cup of coffee.
  6. First off if you knew it was the 79th street boat BASIN and not access you would have probably been better off. Secondly, the moment you called 911 you made your first mistake. The only number to call EVER for an emergency and not a crime is 718-999-2222 You will get an individual with a mastery of the English language and who actually gives a $hit about your well being or the person you are calling about. I called 911 once for a PDAA I hung up with the woman on the phone asked me where 233rd St was. Now I just call the real dispatchers and let them forward it over. I have no idea who a guy in the NYPD can listen to these informants I mean dispatchers. If you ever saw these wildebeasts at metrotech you would think you were outside a Social Services Building.
  7. Let these activists get in a fight with some meth head on the side of the highway with the nearest help 30 minutes away!
  8. Guy I work with lives in Hempstead. One day he gets a call from another guy at the firehouse that he thinks his building is on fire, very similar to this one. Large NFP apt building 6 stories. Guess what, they put that one out too. They get a lot of people to turn out. They get more fire duty than Yonkers and know how to work it out with other depts to get help early. My old MX partner was a Chief there, half the place is like Purchase the other half like Mogadishu. Guys at work always talk about who is going to fires and blah blah blah. Same answer always rings true, Spring Valley, Hempstead, and Selden/Wyandanch.
  9. its 10-15 by helicopter, 30 by fast car. But good to see someone is using their head about using apparatus with some type of social responsibility. Still a bit of a waste to take a million dollar piece of metal on the road for a trophy, but not my tax dollars.
  10. It still baffles my mind how you can take a piece of apparatus like a truck and drive it so far out of the district that if it was needed it would be too late. Of course if you have two trucks maybe, but just one, I would hope I wasnt the guy hanging out the window on the 5th floor looking to get picked off!
  11. I would say no. SRS systems are always the yellow wires in the car. I would bet my left nut that they will not be intertwined with anything else other than the SRS system.
  12. Good luck if you are the guy before a grand jury and you shoot someone who is using a car as to what you think is a weapon, these NYC DA's offices could give a s*** less that you are the one with your life on the line. Like I said before, just ask the guys in the Bell case.
  13. NYC does not recognize a vehicle as a weapon, just ask the cops in the Bell case.
  14. I feel bad for this cop, he is going to be persecuted by the animals he protects day in and day out from this animal he was forced to protect himself from. Just like that other Brother in the Bronx, he was in a life or death situation too. When someone runs from the police they are just plain old bad! This isnt 1995 anymore where you can run as a kid from the police, you must respect the order and follow it, when you don't you send a big red flag up to the cops. Look at that dope from New Rochelle that ran because he stole some tires. Guy kills his own brother and now is going to prison instead of Valhalla for a week or two. If you bring this up to anyone who is anti-cop they will immediately blame the police, but why do they not bring up the fact that this criminal was putting the lives of everyone in danger with her actions? I just hope the Brooklyn DA's office is not as anti-cop as the Bronx, which if I was on that side of the fence I would not do a damn thing for them. Rant over!
  15. FDNY Marshal's are Police not Peace officers.
  16. ESU can do every damn car accident in the city, not one fire house would give a rats behind. But do it correctly. And I was involved in an incident with ESU where a member was injured quite severely, guess who was treating him, ME! If Ray Kelly wasn't pulling the strings things would be like every other City in the USA, police doing criminal actions, FD doing rescues and fires.
  17. The FDNY has been doing rescues since 1865, ESU was started what in the 20's? You tell me who is better trained at doing it. ESU should stick to what it is good at, saving lives that involve a criminal element. You show up with 2 we show up with 6. Im not saying that anyone who isnt scared should not run in to a building that is on fire to warn occupants. But, don't tell me what happened in Brooklyn was a rare occurence, cause it isnt. I remember being told in 2002 to stand guard at a door of a hi rise rescue by a Deputy Chief, why? Cause the apt had 12 guys from the 1st due truck and Rescue already in it, what was PD going to do? Guess what, they went Above us and set something up and almost tangled lines cause they wanted to be the 'it' guys. Guys in Truck 4 are all aces, never had a single problem with them and they work with us well, and of course you cant paint with a broad brush, but it does happen and nothing is done to mediate it. Wonder why it doesnt happen in Yonkers?
  18. JP Doyles is a class place run by a great FDNY member.
  19. Friend had the acadia couldn't wait to find someone to buy it. Mileage on the highway was at best a 15-16. Save your money on all that useless indash garbage. The only company with a functional GPS indash system is pioneer, all the others use BS interfaces that are next to impossible to use. I have four cars with it, BMW, ACURA, HONDA and a Ford with a pioneer indash dvd nav. The pioneer setup is so superior its unfortunate that none of the big 3 take this and run with it. Acura and Honda use junk navteq maps and routing that would take you from Yorktown to Yonkers via Rt 100 ( an exaggeration) but close. Save the 3 grand and use a window one for the rare times you actually use it.
  20. What a real humble guy, on EVERY tv channel talking about HIMSELF.
  21. Right and although our criminal system is innocent till proven guilty, our civil side is guilty till proven innocent.
  22. Not sure where you went to EMT class but the duty to act was very descriptive where I took mine 14 years ago. And I would much rather have a well trained EMT or Medic over an ER Doc who has to rely on tests and machinery to complete their job. And all my friends who are physicians would never step in for fear of lawsuit when things go downhill. Only if it was family would they intervene.
  23. How you could even group a lawyer or doctor in with someone who is educated in true 'street' knowledge is beyond me. My father recently was in a hospital after a lengthy surgery, guess who picked up on his irregular breathing and adverse reaction to a blood transfusion, NOT the RN or Dr assigned to his care, I did. Honestly you sound like someone who is jealous that those of us that do this for a living get certain perks for giving up a lot for our chosen profession. Your irrational train of thought (haha) is a perfect example of the current political climate towards our pensions that we not only deserve, but pay for!
  24. When you possess the knowledge to help a situation either through intervention or providing HELPFUL information to responding parties your position as a passenger changes to responder, and for that your fare has already been paid for through hundreds of hours of training and experience. In many cases the hours of experience is in the ten's of thousands. If you look at the ridership on the train, I can guarantee you that when it hits the fan you will see about 99.9% of the riders heading in the right direction, you need those of us who would be heading in the opposite direction there, especially if it is you that needs it.
  25. Why would someone who lists themselves as a photo enthusiast even come with the statement that says PD FD or EMS should not ride for free. Ask your dad what he thinks. Since you possess zero tools to help in a situation perhaps you should learn some first then see what you have when the stuff really starts to roll down hill, actually you should hope you have one of us on YOUR train to bail you out.
