I've been on the Royal Caribbean's Jewel of the Seas and watch while they performed a drill. It is really neat to watch how they operate for a ship-board fire. A lot of fire prevention is really the key. I did get to speak with the some of the brigade members and even the captain while I was on the cruise. For that ship and I know also for our military, they utilize the salt water for firefighting. I don't remember though how the fire pumps get the water if it is drafted from the undersides or of the bow or stern.
When I spoke to the brigade members they said they always train and actually love to have the visitors watch them drill as it gives a good sense of security. One of the brigade members jokingly asked if they could knock on my door if they needed help!!
Well did you say "yes"??? :D

Anybody got a picture of that truck?

I think they still have the baseball card and collectibles shows at the Westchester County Center. Loads of dealers there that you can talk to. They used to have them a couple of times a year. Might want to check it out.

RIP little one....you left way too soon....

Thanks once again Seth for your time and dedication to the site I hope I speak for everyone when I say it is very appreciated,

What's your point? Fortunately four year olds don't get lost every day.
Shall we use that argument against fire apparatus or other specialized resources? The point is the Town Board is using a valuable and unique police resource as a pawn in a budget battle.
Chris, in your professional opinion, do you think it is an option for Yorktown to go with just one K9 instead of two? Maybe another Agency could "adopt " the second K9? Cut the costs in half?
-
OK, here is what will happen, and should happen, if they want to save $4000 measley dollars, everytime an outside agency has to bring in a K9, charge them, they will reach that $4000 real quick. What is that saying about pennies and pounds and being foolish? It kills me how politicians find such measley expenses to cut but then the big ones, sometime the easiest to cut or eliminate, never get looked at.
Unfortunately in this case,Towns/Departments would be reluctant to use the K9 simply because they don't want to pay because of their own budget restraints......they would probably just make due without.

Wow! That was incredible! Hadn't heard about that. Thanks for posting.

Glad to hear it Seth. Thanks for all your efforts and patience. I knew if the members were challenged we would all come through.
Be well and make sure you take care of yourself and your family.

Seth how much money is it exactly that we need to keep the site running at least temporarily? Is it $700?
Lets have a fund raiser right now. Say how much money you need and choose a date. If you get enough you keep going; if not then you shut it down. You may find that you get more than you need.
Myself and many other members have contributed in the past and I'm sure we'll step up again. You've mentioned the many email and thread responses you received so obviously people care. It's easy to take the work you do and this site for granted until it's not there.
Lets try at least; it couldn't hurt to try!

"PELHAM MANOR— A 35-year-old village police officer who shot and killed a Harlem man Tuesday night after wrestling with him is a good cop who followed proper procedure, the village police chief said.Kenneth Stretz was found breathing heavily, his face red with scratches, moments after shooting 43-year-old Wardell Johnson in the torso as two New York City police officers called for an ambulance."

Let's not forget the 550 MILLION pounds of toxic Chinese drywall! The fumes from the stuff attacks copper wiring and pipe!!!
People's houses built with this stuff now have to be gutted!
I think its a good idea to avoid buying these and other kinds of electronic items at discount stores for a dollar. Sometimes you get what you pay for.

Anyone know of a good spot in Westchester or Rockland to see the WTC light tomorrow?

Catching up with apparatus in the County.
Hey Joe what's the specs on the Buchanan Rescue? It's an interesting rig. Is it a Spartan?

Hello All,
I am a new listener to the Yonkers PD scanner freq. and was wondering if anyone had a list of what the 10-codes & CODE 4 etc mean?
It would be greatly appreciated.. I downloaded a APCO list but it does not seem to match what YPD uses.. Example.... there was a 10-17 riot type brawl, which I would only assume that a 10-17 is a fight in progress but the APCO says its a "met complainant"...
Thanks!
Bri2463
Yonkers uses two types of codes: Regular 10 codes and "clearing codes." That's when you hear the "Code 4." I have them listed in the Scanner Master guide. There are too many to list here but if you can get your hands on the Scanner Master book or search online you can find them. If you need some help just send me a message.

Way to go Chris! Congrats, good luck, and be safe!!

Thanks for sharing that memory. Its easy to forget these incidents since 9/11 happened because the loss that day dwarfs everything else. But we can't let that happen. Thanks for the post.

I believe that it was a week ago this past Saturday, which was the offical last day that Phil owned Pete's Park Place Tavern. (Many a 2:00 AM Burger ate there)
Oh I'm sorry I missed that. Would have liked to have been there.
