  1. i read somewhere ( frogot where) that he is a volly where he lives...anyone know where?
  2. Some of the more memorable jobs in southern orange county over the past 10-15 years.. Jamesway ( Monroe) Bowl o Fun ( Monroe) Beckwiths...both times? ( Monroe) Ace Farms ( Woodbury) all were pretty big...the jamesway fire in 90 practicly every company in orange county was involved with and quet a few rockland companies made the trip up for it
  3. What about a slightly longer practicle and drop thw written? There are many people ( like myself) who are great with the practicle, and hands on things but when it comes to taking standardized test's we suck at them. And its not that we dont know the material needed because we are passing the practicle with perfect scores! Just another thought...
  4. I agree 100%. The countys need to offer more class's. In orange county, they offer Pump Operator/EVOC more than anything! Yeah thats important but I have been waiting since May for a Fast Team Class, or a Truck Co Ops, or Rescue Tech. I dont even think the county of orange is having any class's this month and i dont think they had any last month eather!

  7. Hello Got a quick question. I'm taking the test at Laguadia College (Onsite) Now they grade your test then and there, but assuming you pass the practicle part of the test and the writen onsite how long does it take to get your EMT card so you can be an active EMT? Thanks Dan
  8. Another quick question here. Now i understand its "EMT-B" but there is the AED training in the course and my instructor was saying something how when we pass the test "EMT-B" we are really "EMT-D"'s but there isnt anything on the state site about "EMT-D"
  9. Some people tell me of the " sate law" of 21 years old but i cant find any truth to it
  10. Many Depts have it at 21, but some Depts with manpower issues have it at 18 or 19. Personaly I think 19 is a fair age to start driving the rigs. In my Dept the first rig you train on is the brush truck and rescue. Then the engines. My friend in another Dept insists that is is 21 then again
  11. Thanks for clarifying so you get your results and you can be a practicing EMT right after that..cool
  12. Over here in Orange County a Squad is: A engine with full engine tools A engine with a full component of Truck Co Tools A engine that can operate as a fast team A engine with a varity of Rescue Co tools ( spreaders, omnitool etc...) A engine that has manpower which can be split up into 2 groups or more
  13. Steve, I havent been hearing really much about the duty officer vehicles in Orange county except in i think 1 department. The reason Monroe 4/5 alternate with their "car 3" is because their car 3 had surgury a month or so ago and cant respond. I think some Depts up here should worry about getting usefull things ( i.e. tools, apparatus maintinance, more than 1 chiefs vehicle)....I know quiet often you hear the same rig out of serivce for quiet a while for a stupid reason....there are also quiet a few departments that only have 1 chiefs car ( harriman is one of the few left and we just got a new one earlyer this year ) just my 2 cents
