  8. My dad first wave Omha beach 75TH Infintry H-291 20 years old street smart Port Chester kid kicked a**. On to Bastone , Arden Forest, then Germany. Silver star, bronze star and 2 Purple Harts. Came home to mom but for those that don't know 188 from Port Chester did not. Port Chester has the sad distinction of having the most men in the United states killed in the line of duty from one street. Willow street gave up 8 men and it is only 600 feet long .
  9. Other then Petrose313 ,chkpoint and me did anybody from here go ? It is open to the public its just NO ONE knows about it, in fact look at this years flyer it doesn't even have a time and when I checked in for a time nobody could give me a answer. Very poorly run. Every year they have Class field trips from some schools around the area maybe two class's this year and because I was board [ you can only watch a helicopter go up and down and maybe a little side way's so many times ] sorry man ! as I said I sat in on the class and was surprised at the knowledge that this kids had and how intent they were at the county officer who was teaching them about canine and the bomb squad. If you were going there to look at a certain thing then you sighed up got a goody bag and lunch but anybody can park for free and go in. It was very nice day to be by the water but no boat this year, it just couldn't be done because there is no place to watch [ pier closed ] and almost no boardwalk open to get close to see . Like I said before if they don't change it up the people that I talked to that day are not coming back
  10. I know you went with super single's on this rig but is that were they stay or is there more work to be done . They look a little to far in on these photo's
  11. Nothing to take photos of , no boat , no fire trucks other then a 550 ford utilty from Swab body and all the rest is the same year after year. Just look at last years photos they will be the same.It used to be a good show and as said nobody there, If they don't change it up with some new blood it's DEAD !

  15. We had a lady kept calling the house phone to tell about a cat in a tree. Used all the know answers to tell her to stop calling but after about 10 calls we said we will be right there. I pulled Engine 58 up blocked the road and put in pump. While my partner was talking to the lady I started to put the deck gun into position and she said to my partner what was I doing. I started to raise up the rpm and told her we were doing what see wanted and geting the cat out of the tree. No more phone calls !
  16. If you left a donut on the ground the cop would have come down , sorry GrumpyFF !

  20. More or less like a manpower sq and or riot sq. It could bring manpower to a location fast as there where a few around the city. As the story goes from the Man that owned that rig it was bought [used] by the Peekskill Fire Patrol as there first rig I believe It was replaced by the large 1950's GMC Approved body and the Mack was left outside to rot. Then somewhere around 1976 or so a new friend Waine from Valhalla started a complete resto on it . He compleated it around 1980 the same time I finshed up my Sanford and we showed them together at the shows. Many times he was asked to bring the Mack back to the city for shows as it was the only one left so it has to be it. Over the years lost touch with Waine and I believe he has pasted on . Maybe Howie can fill us /me in on anything else about this great rig that has Westchester ties !
