  1. I doubt very much that any of the Ops people were in the departure lounge especially if it was packed. TSA or airline people being rude is part of the job description.

You are right, they are not prepared to evacuate the terminal in an emergnecy. But try getting the Rye Fire Inspector into a county building or get the county "fire inspector" over there. Lotsa luck

RYE FIRE INSPECTOR? AIRPORT IS RYE BROOK HARRISON AND ARMONK AND NOT WHITE PLAINS! :o

  2. ROOKEES ALL ROOKEES, 1942 SEAGRAVE WAR BABY. NO BRIGHT WORK SO IT WILL NOT BE A TARGET FOR A AIRPLANE ATTACK DURING WW2. EVERTHING WAS PAINTED. MUST OF HAD A FACTORY IN TOWN TO MAKE WAR PARTS OR THEY NEVER WHOULD HAVE RECIVED ENGINE,VERY RARE AT THAT TIME! cool.gif

  3. First off, I've been collecting and restoring fire apparatus for over 30 years and was in awe of what I saw on Sunday. Great bunch of guys that are the Catskill Fire Cats local chapter of SPAAMFAA. For those of you young guys who don't know what this is I will spell it out, Society for the Preservation and Apprication of Antique Motor Fire Apparatus in America, (SPAAMFAA). First photo's taken are of some local rigs and if you guys want more let me know.

  4. Although I dont know much about this truck, I would image its no longer in service because wouldn't it state the unit number in the county roster? From what I see, thats 60-control unit designation plate (red) on the front of the truck. Since I see the "Engine" numbers only go up to 300, maybe this truck was 913 under the Thruway and a different number under 60-control. If departments like Greenburgh CD, the DES and NYS Power are listed on the roster, I would imaginge this would have to be if it was still in service. And not to take away from this topic, but I located a picture of a piece of fire apparatus used by the Port Authority, other than an Oshkosh ARFF truck. Its a huge Autocar foam tender/tanker....but dont know much more than that. Sorry, but I dont know what website this was from or who took the picture.

  5. Eastchester Rescue 5, a Brockway! And I believe Saulsbury body. This sat at the Bronxville station of Eastchester FD next to Engine 29 for many years before being given to the county. It still ran and drove, however it had severe body cancer. I remember the sticker on the officer side dash that said "Sit Down, Shut Up, And Hold On". It was then sent to the DPW Purchasing garage on the Grasslands Reservation, where it was ultimately disposed of. It's too bad Eastchester didn't replace it with another Mack.
