Both 10-codes and plain text, have their points. Like "CM36 said"

I feel that it is a good idea to because now you can say engine 165 is responding or we are back in severice. Also you don't have to remember the 10-codes some codes like a 10-75 or 10-10 are codes that should be kept i think that the best plan would be a combe of both clear and 10 codes more clear text then 10-codes
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Their defiently should be a combination of 10 codes and plain text in the county. Like 10-75 should be kept, because it keeps radio traffic to a minimum, and now county can dispatch m/a depts if necessary in lesser time, than if more radio traffic was used. However having a MVA with entrapment is easier to said in plain text, rather than whatever 10 code means entrapment. Thats what I have for thought on the 10 codes

I have to agree, PL Custom does make a really nice Ambulance. Both KBHVAC's two rigs 65b-1 and 65b-2 and Somers 80b-2 are all good examples, of what fine craftsmanship that PL Custom has in their rigs. Having seen both of KBHVAC's rigs at accident scenes, their is defiently alot of room in each, for two patients to be transported and also have room for the emt and or medic work on the patients. I have to say I love the color scheme that is on the new Somers 80b-2. Question,, Res20cue why did Somers change the color scheme on the new rig, unlike the sheme and Gold Leaf that is on the 80b-1 and 80b-3???? Also, the led's that are on the rig are awesome, I like the two that are on the two back doors.

In Bedford Hills, their's two types of Junior Member classification. Members who are 16 are issued a pager if their avaiable, and 15 yr old dont recieve any since they cant respond to calls. Once the juniors do recieve a pager, they are told about the rules of them, and should be adhered too, or the pager will be taken away. Rules such as not wearing them to school, and not responding to calls during school hours were stressed greatly. However, I agree that pagers should be given to Junior Members, because if they are allowed to respond to calls, their gaining training at calls, by watching the interior and senior members, go through different steps and functions at every call. If theirs pagers avaiable at that certian dept, I believe that they should be given to a junior member that deserves it

Also, wat extrication tools do you keep pre-connected on you rig?? We recently change having the combi-tool and cutter preconnected to having the big spreader and cutter pre-connected.

during the storm we ran a couple AFA's, 2 outside odor's of something burning, and 1 dual-response with katonah for 57truck to the funeral home. We have 1 portable generator and both 57truck and Rescue10 have fixed generators incase we needed to run any power from them. During the blackout each truck had an assigned crew and that crew stayed the same the whole night. KBHVAC also had 1 rig stationed at our quarters with a crew the whole night. Also, during the beginning of the blackout we took all of our gas cans and had them filled, incase we needed fuel. Furthermore, with two senior complexes in our district we sent trucks to each location to check on the welfare of all the people living their and gave them some ice cold water to drink. Thank God for AC in the firehouse, because it was nice and cool in our lounge, when i slept their that night.

I defiently agree with "Chris498", The automatic mutual aid agreement for 57truck with Katonah works greats. With 57truck as the only ladder in the Town Of Bedford, this policy is great b/c anytime Katonah gets toned out for a commercial alarm/or anything structural related BH's tones are stacked with Katonah. Also with the tower being automatic dual response, it gives the other town additional manpower at the scene. Also, 57truck is 1st due truck at the Fox Lane High School and Middle School campus, which is in the Bedford Fire District.

You ask a question now
-
What kind of equipment should a 1st due engine have on it??
1500 or bigger pump??
1000 gallon tank??
seating for 6 people total?? Dont need to have all your guys on just the 1st truck to the scene
Plenty of hose. 1.75 and 2.5 crosslays. 3" and 5" inch supply hose
Thermal Imaging Camera and Gas Meters
Normal Forcible entry tools and others
Maganesium Extingusher (Audi and Mercedes car fires)
What else do you think a 1st due engine needs??
-
Heres a new question???
Who carried all the extrication tools and did extrication calls for Bedford Hills Fire Dept, prior to them getting extrication tools??
-
who in the county is still operating Macks.
Mt. Kisco (E 103)
Goldens Bridge (E 138)
Croton (E119)
All of these trucks are sweet, and kept in prestine condition.
What other Departments are still operating Macks???
-
Hurst and Centurian make really good tools. Has any1 used Holmatro Tools, or know of any departments in the county that use them. I've seen alot of advertising for them alot lately, just curious if any1 has any input on them???

-
What Brand of extrication tools does your department use??
Bedford Hills and Katonah use LUKAS
Bedford Village has Amkus on Rescue 44 and Hurst Cutter and Spreader on MA7
Mt. Kisco uses Hurst
Yorktown uses Hurst
Who else??
-

Katonah has one of the nicest firehouses. It has plenty of room for all of its truck and more, huge meeting room and a seperate training room. Also, the big grassy field in the back is perfect for trainings and the carnvial they have each year during their parade.
Bedford Village also has a nice house. It has that nice oldtime small village firehouse charm to it. The bowling alley in the basement, need i say more.
Banksville new firehouse looks awesome from the outside, havent been inside it yet.
Armonk's new Fire Headquarters looks like it going to a real state of the art fire house. Cant wait till it finished.
D.P. Hays Fire House in the olde village in Pleasantville is also nice, it has that nice olde charm to it, plus the architecture style when it was built, makes it a nice firehouse

55 gallon propane tank that was buried underground, had it's top sheared off by a backhoe removing snow. The regulator was shut off and halstead quinn notified and responded to scene. All BHFD apparatus went 10-8 once, the representative from the propane company was on scene.

If you can get your hands on a copy of the Bedford Record-Review, from Friday Dec 5th, theres a big article also on the firehouse vote and fire commissioner vote
