  1. Very saddened by this news - from those that i know that knew him, there has been nothing but good to say. Reflecting on awful events like this i often think of this quote:

"In the final analysis, the question of why bad things happen to good people transmutes itself into some very different questions, no longer asking why something happened, but asking how we will respond, what we intend to do now that it happened."

At work i'll strive to be a better provider, think twice about being grumpy when a run comes over during meal or for something that seems trivial. At home, ill take special care to make sure those close to me know i love them. Thats the least i can do.

RIP Paramedic Joyner and thank you for all that you did in the short time you were here.

  2. On January 7th 1996, Pleasantville Volunteer Firefighter Tom Dorr was brutally murdered in Grahm Hills Park while enroute to a winter storm standby. Tonight at 7pm we will be holding our annual vigil at the park entrance across from Pace University. The police have still not been able to make any arrests in the case so we meet every year in the hopes of keeping Tom's story in the media so that maybe someone will come forward. Until then we continue to remember Tom and hope for the best.

I know every time someone tragically dies they suddenly become saints, but Tom really was one of those once in a life time great guys. How many people would take the time to feed the wild turkeys during a blizzard? He could always be counted on to help anyone who might need it. Please keep him in your thoughts.

Have there been any developments in this case?

  3. As the Grandson and cousin of survivors, I thank you for starting this thread. It is my opinion that the 7th of December had fallen by the wayside until 9/11. Then the attack became a part of the story of 9/11, as the only times America had been "attacked" on their own soil. Now, after 7 years, I feel most of America sees 9/11 as just another day. I'm surprised the retail stores haven't found a way to have sales in junction with it. Rememberances seem to becoming fewer and fewer in numbers.

As was said, May We Never Forget. Either Attack....

BMC Frank C. Kuhlow, USS California, WIA recepient of the Purple Heart for wounds sustained in the Attack.

    SMN Ray Kuhlow, USS California

I was saddened to see how many fire-houses ,ambulance corps :angry:buildings,American Legion halls, etc.,did not fly the flag at half -staff on Dec. 7th. This is an order by the President.

  4. Not so. The TMC and SP Hawthorne are collocated within the same building but are entirely different operations. SP Hawthorne is the Zone Headquarters for the State Police; the TMC is the regional traffic management center. The State and County have EOC's in the buildng, plus DOT, Thruway Authority and WC OEM all have offices there as well.

The TMC handles all communications for SP and local agencies they dispatch for (that's why you hear TMC on the radio); receives and routes cellular 911 calls; coordinates DOT activities (road closures and responses and such) and HELP Trucks, etc. from there.

x648e119 hits on a lot of their functions too.

For more info about it you can go to: http://www.hudsonvalleytraveler.com/

Thanks for the info. my VAC is minutes from this place and I had no idea of what went on there.

The dictionary gives the following meaning to the word hero.A man admired for his achievements and qualities.Thanks,Chief.
