Well the METS lost to Atlanta last night. I've been a METS fan since I was three. The first week was great but they played teams like Washington and Florida. Now comes the real test on the west coast road trip... If they win out there, then these METS are for real. Go METS!! and revenge on the Yankees for our loss in the World Series with them.

The ambulance company I work for use mainly van ambulances. We also have two "box" ambulances with special stretchers for "large" patients. The stretcher has wings that attach to the sides and a special mattress for the patient to lay on. This stretcher seems to fit any ambulance with a center floor mount to give the wings the space needed. Other times, without the wings, the stretcher is the same as any other. This is cheaper than buying new special ambulances. The stretcher is also rated for 700 pounds.

Orange County has Mobile Life Support based in Newburgh as well as Regional EMS who has an office in Middletown. MLSS has cities of Newburgh and Middletown. Regional has the city of Port Jervis. Both companies have contracts with various towns in the county. Hope this helps!

Hi there. I'm Tom from Orange county. I've been an EMT for 8 years and I worked for Empress, Mobile Life Support, and now currently with Alamo EMS.

Hello, I just joined the group so please bear with me. A little about myself, I currently work for Alamo and I worked for Empress when the union was voted in. In Kingston where some of my shifts are, Alamo is using 2 of its 3 ALS rigs on wheelchair transports out of the N.E. Center for Special Care. The trips would be either to a doctors office in Kingston or even to Albany where we sit in a waiting room for hours on end because we left the wheelchair at the NECSC. Now a call goes out in Olive (we lost this contract earlier this year) and we have no units available. So the problems aren't just in Dutchess. The company needs to split into 911 and transport divisions as Empress did. Also the union would help morale (Hey, I'm a dime a dozen) and maybe some equipment will get replaced. BUT I see Alamo as a transport company by Jan. 1 of next year latest. Sorry, but the writing is on the wall if nothing changes soon. Thanks for letting me vent.

With the increase in gas prices, doesn't the state get more in the sales tax portion of the price? Makes you wonder if Albany is enjoying the extra income at our expense.
