I can't speak to fire dispatch, but if I recall correctly EMS used to be dispatched by NRPD when Empress had the contract for the city. I'm 90% sure about this, but let me know if I'm wrong.

As a graduate of ALS's FF2 course, I can attest to that! LOL

I have an older i1000 and it regularly has problems with signal. I can stand totally still and have a full signal one second and then only one bar the next.....probably a phone issue more than reception but it's annoying.

Hate to say it, but I have a newer phone with the same issue. I think it's the service, not the hardware.

Although some outside the fire service may believe this (mistakenly), the reality is that the statistics used to back up such statements are flawed, in the sense that firefighting is classified as "just another occupation", which obviously is not true.
