  1. What, you didn't go buff this one Bill??

Bad day, had the kids at denist for check-up... By time I got to meet with other half and turn over the kids, they reported the fire knocked down, under control, so figured nothing worth riding through rush hour traffic to go too... Darn it...

Figures and I got my new camera and waiting to try it out too..

  2. Sorry for not posting these sooner but I have been real busy between work and shooting weddings that I have had no free time.......

These are photo's of Beekman's fire that occurred last Thursday morning at #162 Gold Rd. They had heavy fire upon arrival with the two neighboring residences as exposures. Beekman was assisted by East Fishkill, Union Vale, and Pawling Fire Departments. The Dutchess County OOER Fire Investigation Division and DCSO investigated the incident.

  3. I have been trying to get my local fire department a website with e-mail capabilities, I have 2 proposals from 911.webs and firehousesolutions.com. which I think are both great options. Anyone have any others that I should be looking into before I narrow it down to 2 possibilites. I'd like to keep my options open and get the best bang for my buck so to speak. I want peoples opinion from an end users point of view not a sales pitch. thanks

You may want to try www.yourfirstdue.com, they have a very interactive and simple website program that you can maintain and control your website yourself from. They also offer a e-mail portion in their site for all to have a simple e-mail address that you can put every member into your website. It also offers you a place to make a very inexpensive and simple great looking website for your department, let's face it if you not on the web in this day and age, your most likely not getting the best visible chance of promoting your department.

  6. I would have thought the Westchester team made up of Yonkers, New Rochelle, etc. Or the technical rescue team in Orange County with Goshen and a few other departments.

Danger you are exactly right, I would try for the teams either from Westchester or Orange County, NY... Heck given the scenario that x129 gave I would call both and even maybe get the FDNY Rescue 3 Collapse Unit rolling also... Remember, can never have enough when it comes to tech rescue and if nothing else can always return any one unit if the job is done before their arrival..

The two other places I would look toward for assistance would be into Ct. at Danbury and of course if large enough you might want to get the NYS OFPC USAR team out of Albany started down also.

The resources are out there and available, just need to summon them.

  7. Thank god, finally some pictures... I heard of this fire while I was at the National Fire Academy, from my son and he said "Dad there is a fire in Pawling and they are calling everyone, it's big".

Of course I said to myself not to worry there will be a article and pictures in the PoJo the next day... Yeah was I so wrong, but you guys never disappoint me, long behold here are some very nice shots here and no doubt when PhotoUnit gets the rest up we'll see some awesome shots too.

Anyway thanks guys, wish I was home and would have been there myself snapping off a few shots to have and share...

  8. Everyone,

Here is a great article to prove the need to educate and be aware of what your district has in it... It is obvious that this fire department does not know their fire district very well after they spent precious time trying to hook to a fire hydrant in the story and then had to disconnect and shift to a water shuttle operations to make water available to put out the fire... Or are they just looking for reasons why they lost the entire structure in this fire???

The issue in this article is not the Fake Fire Hydrant or the Attempted Insurance Fraud the Chief mentions, but that he didn't or for that fact apparently nobody in the district knew their district well enough to not realize this was not a real hydrant.

Knowing your district is important... Obviously this district didn't know theirs very well...

    What do you all think???

  9. Thanks. I was looking at the photos and those exposures on the B & D sides we tight, especially the D exposure. I'd like to know more about the attack and the exposure protection, if anyone can share it.

I'm a huge buff like that, thanks.

I can sum it up in a simple easy statement.... "PFD along with the assistance of Fairview and Arlington on scene did some good solid firefighting, under good leadership, along with good water supplies, and of course attack lines in the proper places..."

This was not no Taylor Ave. 2001 fire, but very easily could have been if some of those key ingredients above didn't fall into place....

Good Job to the City of Poughkeepsie firefighters on well done job...
