Our maintenance division is not in favor of roll-up doors. I personally think that they would look nice on the engine, but they do get gunked up in the wintertime. By the way, they don't approve of brushed aluminum rims either...I have been down that road with them on that issue too...
The short of it is that they do an awesome job for us, so we just don't sweat the small stuff.
Forever a whacker...

The Norwalk Fire Department has taken delivery of a refurbished fireboat. It was donated to us from the Police Department in our city and much time and effort was put into realizing the dream of an active marine division. The administration has made a firm commitment to training the personnel who wish to serve on this new division. It will be in the water and in service July 4th.

Heard that Stamford has not been too happy with the HME's...if so, why would more keep coming in? They are pretty nice looking trucks though, especially TRFD E62 and Long Ridge's new one. I wonder if one is on the horizon for my old volunteer co. (Belltown)??? I suppose good looks aren't everything.

I am sure they are from a while ago, but the truck is in Marion, Wisconsin...they probably still have snow banks in parking lots...

Really good point...especially with the strength of the Hudson River currents in that area.

The City of Norwalk is expecting delivery of a new Spartan/Marion pumper some time in late April. The engine will be the first red apparatus for Norwalk in many years (all current apparatus is white with red reflexite trim and stripes). I will post some pre-delivery pictures when I get posession of them. The mayor thing is true. Mayor Collins required all PD, FD & DPW vehicles to be white. DPW has been green for a while and we will soon be red. I have mixed feelings about it because the rest of the fleet will be white for a while.

Nice rig...I am originally from the "big 5" system and this is one of the nicest rigs I have seen up there in quite some time...2nd of course to TRFD's new Seagrave.
-
I think I can clarify...
This hazmat rig is going to serve as Fairfield County Hazmat 1. The team is county based with the primary response rig (the one in question) located in Westport FD HQ. Secondary response rigs are housed in Norwalk, Wilton and Easton. It will be replacing a refurbished Coke truck that is currently serving as the main apparatus. I think it is due for delivery late spring and I will get some pictures of it and post them as soon as I can take some.
