  18. A Dallas police officer was killed by a suspect he was chasing on foot, authorities said. Officer Brian Jackson and another officer went to investigate a disturbance complaint and chased a male suspect through alleys and between houses, Police Chief David Kunkle said. During the chase, the man fired at the officers, fatally wounding Jackson, Kunkle said. The suspect, Juan Lizcano, 28, was charged with one count of capital murder and was in custody. Jackson, who had been married for two months, was the first Dallas officer killed since Oct. 23, 2002.

Req. to come in Maple to Monsey Blvd. 2224hrs- M/A Suffern (Dept. 19) for Engine to cover Spring Valley (129 Main St.-Firehouse). 2239hrs- Fire is darkening down. Numerous master streams in operation. Monsey Tower Ladder and South Spring Valley Trucks in op. Major structural damage to a section of the building. 2322hrs-Tallman (Dept. 20) requested for (1) engine to re-locate to Monsey FD HQ.

    There is a 50/50 raffle to raise money for Chris and his family going on now. Tickets are available through many local PBA's for $10. Check with your local PD or give a call to one of the contact numbers on the flyer. I've known Chris and his wife for quite some time and though he is pulling through, he's still in pretty bad shape with a long hard road of rehab ahead. Any help is appreciated, money or thoughts.
  21. Nikon will be releasing, in time for Christmas, the new D200 digital SLR to compete with the Canon 20D. Of the D200's selling points are a weather-sealed CCD sensor and 10.2 megapixels.
