A wreath hanging above the fireplace caught fire when the homeowner tried to start a fire in the fire place using branches from her christmas tree. It was knocked down by the Lewisboro police using dry chem extiniquishers. South Salem checked for extension and vented the house. Heavy smoke on arrival.

Another very fast mutual aid response by neighboring departments.

In response to JaredHG's comment about how to register for training, it is not that there is confusion about how to do it, but rather there is a reason that this certain member is not being allowed to register.

any other updates?

just read the story and saw the video concerning the hamsters. at first i kind of dismissed it, kind of insignificant, but then when i saw the reaction of the lady i realized how much that must of meant to her, after losing everthing. nice job by the yonkers firefighters to check that out for her.

as much as i hated to watch the patriots and the eagles win today, the best moment out of both games was definately when the security gaurd tackled the jack*ss who ran out on the field. nice hit.

yeah i saw a story about that on the news. the pictures are in good taste (IMOP) and its for a good cause. ive also read a lot of stories about parties on campuses where the money made is going to the tsunami relief. perhaps a little more of an "out side the box" way to raise money, but it is a way to raise money from people that wouldn't otherwise donate.

hahahahahaha, putting her through FF1, she'd probably want pink turn out gear
-
id rather run head first into a wall than see or listen to her. i dont know if anyone caught the south park a month or so ago where they spoof her, it was hysterical.

thanks for the updates

my bad on the location of my last post

any idea how big the structure is? im hearing a lot of apparatus responding to the scene
-
that is a pretty progressive idea, a good one though. i've always argued for our dept. to set up a fitness area in house or work with a health club in the area for memberships for firefighters, i know some other depts in the area that do that.
fitness is often an underlooked and underappreciated aspect of firefighting and for EMT's. hopefully in the next few months we will have that fitness area in our dept. we actually recieved a used, but still in fantastic condition, piece of gym equipment donated by a resident.
also, what is "cyberbullying"? being away at school i must have missed that one

57crew your TL got to vista pretty quick, did the same when we had the possible fire at JJ middle school over the summer, thats a pretty sweet response time.
as far as being home, im back for roughly 5 weeks although im that guy that comes home and everything is quiet, which i guess isn't really a bad thing.

sounds like it's cooking. it figures, 2 days before i get home. hope everyone stays safe.

yeah he actually lived a couple of houses down from me. my sister was friends with him and told me about it earlier.
it's a tragic thing, especially this time of year. my thoughts are with the family and friends

Hey all, I don't know if anyone heard about ABC's decision not to air "Saving Private Ryan" tonight. if not, here is one of the many links about i:
http://money.cnn.com/2004/11/11/news/fortu...dex.htm?cnn=yes
does anyone else feel that the FCC has put such a, for lack of a better word, fear into networks that they are now worried about being fined for showing a fantastic movie that was meant to honor those who fought in WWII?
it was just something i was talking to a couple of people about earlier and wanted to see what anyone else thought about it.

I really wish this thread would just be locked. Why? Because only one side of the story has been presented. Its funny to see how everyone is championing this one person when you have no other information other that he doesn't like parades. How about the fact that he doesn't come to drills or calls? How about the department, which has NIMS training in place and will be starting it this coming week? (A note about that, the member yelled at the chief and said that that wouldn't work for him because he was going to be to busy.)
This thread has just gotten way out of hand. Anyone can PM me if they really want to talk more about this. But this is all you're gonna see from me here.
And one last thing. Our department really took a chance when we voted this member in. We were actually warned against it by other agencies in the area because of his attitude and preformace. And this is the thanks we get.
