Does anybody have pics of the new Engine 158?
-
Intresting thanks for the explanation.
-
Engine 158 looks (looked) like a great truck its to bad to see trucks torn apart when they still have potential for serving. Atleast it will be put to good use as a dump truck.
-
Interesting, are those three fire districts interested at all with consolidating or was this just a topic paired with the consolidating of the police?
-
Thats to bad. That guy must be pissed. i would be if my partner shot me in the face. The gunman should get glasses if he couldn't tell between a turkey and his partner. I can bet that the gunman just lost a hunting friend and after word goes around he probably won't get another one for quite a while!

I have a feeling that with the price of oil on the constant rise, we are going to see alot more fires this year. People that fall asleep with their fireplaces or woodburning stoves, creosote catching in improperly cleaned chimneys, etcI agree it will definatly be an intresting winter season. You also have the emergencies that come with the winter too. car accidents, heaters catching furnishings on fire, and all that fun stuff. Just wondering I know the fire service gets more fires over the winter season but does the winter season become busy for the EMS? What is the EMS's busy time of the year?

Not trying to justify what we saw but maybe we dont know what they were told, ( KIds Trapped ) Maybe??Conditions were bad only they know what was said when they pulled up, its easy to second guess when were not there.
Thank God it worked out
I agree but even in the midst of chaos firemen should be prepared ready for action with a plan so they could react to emergencies like this.

Obviously being prepared and having the right PPE and Saftey equipment is the right thing no one should be exempt from following the rules/laws they sre just trying to save lives and keep firemen safe. Stupid and lucky but they got the job done.

Sorry actually I was away for the long weekend so I don't know whats up with the new ladder.
-
Both great trucks. It looks like planning and thought went into both rigs. Just wondering does anyone know if or when Ladder 43 will be going into service?
-
Whats happening to the old Rescue 1? Any plans or is it gonig to sit around for a while?
-
As many of you guys added the placement of the ladder, the attack, and the amount of water their dummping is important I don't think I saw him wearing a mask which would probably lead to a pretty bad day for the guy in th bucket. I don't fully know ladder companies SOPs but should you have a mask on if you were fighting a blaze like this?

That burns! Wow!

I heard his english professer had noticed he had been having problems lately. I belive she tried to address the problem and even notified other teachers.
-
I think its really wrong and its abusing the rights, useses, and privliges of having lights and sirens. The only reason they use lights and sirens is to move people to the side of the road to get places faster. If someone put all these incidents and circumstances together maybe people would see past the accident and would see why there was an accident and how it could be prevented.
-
There were too many factors involved. He should have had his seatbelt on and they shouldn't have been speeding. They should travel the way all other motorists travel and that should be end of story!
-
Is it me or has there been alot of shootings lately.
-
Lights and sirens = emergency!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A meeting with an idiot and a basketball team over an old incident is no emergency!
I agree! I forget when but somebody in government recently crashed in an intersection with lights and sirens. The accident wasn't bad but it was his fault and he was only going to a meeting not a structure fire, bank robbery, or a person having a heart attack! They feel that since their government they should have lights and sirens and everyone should clear a path for them. Not right!
-
I feel that government leaders shouldn't have lights and sirens just escorts. Who cares if their going to something important or if they are important. It should only be emergency responders with lights and sirens. Does anyone else agree?
-
My friends talked about it so I tried it out and i've been adicted ever since!
-
One of the rigs in our station is Engine 106 which is in the Mount Kisco Fire Department.
-
I was wondering do many fire, ems, and police departments have stickers in their vehicles on putting on your seat belt. I know Con Ed has one in their vehicles that says "Don't be caught dead sitting on your seatbelt." I was also wondering besides it being a law is it mandatory in your department?
-
Thats too bad but I heard he wasn't wearing a seatbelt!

I'd say they get a fair amount of training and "drills"...287 Propane Tanker - White Plains
Central Avenue/I-87 Gasoline Tanker - Yonkers
Route 9A Gasoline Tanker - Hawthorne
Route 9A Gasoline Tanker - Briarcliff
I-95 Gasoline Tanker - Stamford
Route 9A Gasoline Tanker - Ossining (this one didn't burn - just overturned)
Route ??? Propane Tanker - Bedford/Somers (overturn)
Thats true they have had a fair amount of training, drills, and real life experiances.
Does anyone know if Westchester County Airport has a crash crew and what kind of rigs they have?

I believe that they may be running out of a DEP garage on East 25th street near the FDR. I'll look into it to verify.
