  2. Speaking of Mack C fire trucks in Westchester.... lets have a moment of silence for the demise of the last in service Mack C in Westchester. A sad moment.

FORMER Mack C fire Engines that served in Westchester.

Verplank, Croton, Montrose, Buchanan, Goldens Bridge, Thornwood, Port Chester, North Tarrytown, and North White Plains each had Mack C pumpers. Chappaqua had a Mack C pumper and a quad, both from 1960 I believe. Larchmont had two Mack C pumpers, a 1958, and a 1969. Croton had a Mack C rescue truck, I think it was a 1963. I know New Rochelle had an open cab pumper, and I know Mount Vernon had a 1966 pumper, and Yonkers had at least one Mack C pumper. Am I missing any? Does anyone have any info on the where abouts of these trucks today? Too bad they are now all gone.... such a shame, they were so beautiful.

  3. Hey Larchmont, heard the sad news that your Mack C is finally out of service.... I think that marks the end of an era in Westchester, sad really. What are you guys going to replace it with?

As for Katonah, I think we are working on a new tanker, but no details to share yet.... I'll keep you all posted.

  4. Thank you JJL429! I agreee the Seagrave is a superior builder of fire apparatus! And I agree that Rick and Carl and Seagrave would take care of any issues. I think that FDNY is a good example, because regardless of low bids...... those trucks in the city still take over a decade of severe beating and keep on woking!!!! I still would like to hear of other Seagrave experiances... Thanx, and stay safe!

  5. In Katonah, we have a walk through body..... there are good points and bad points to this design in my mind..... the walk in body is nice because we can move a ton of people.....additionally we can use it for rehab, it is warm in the winter and coool in the summer. We can opperate as a command center for inside the box with a phone, multiple radios and a work area for staging, also we have a telemetry unit for our thermal imagining camera which is mounted in the box as well. I do think however, that you loose a lot of valuable storage space with a walk-in box... but I suppose that a lot of this is personal preference. As far as equiptment, saws and cutting tools, Lukas, Hurst or whatever you use, a complete set. Airbags.... high and low pressure reels, air chissle, high lifr jacks....ample cribbing.....cascade system, light tower, ropes and rigging gear, hazmat response equipment, hand tools of all assortments, gas detector...... the rig should be very well stocked.
