Okay I must apologize and revise my previous post a tiny bit(hopefully my mix up is a testament to how little we have to use this protocol:
In Putnam mutual aid for a fire department with no response goes like this:
Initial Dispatch
Wait 4 minutes
Second Dispatch (if no response)
Wait 4 minutes
Third Dispatch (if no response)
Wait 2 minutes
If still no response from base, automatic mutual aid; if the base does sign on but does not have the manpower to respond, the base is asked if they want more tones or mutual aid.
So this cuts it down to 10 minutes.

Well unfortunately that is current protocol in Putnam County. And yes it is pretty much put on whoever is their at the base. We will unofficially try to prompt the base to m/a if we have to.

We would be happy to be warm and fuzzy and give you a tour about how communications actually works in the real world. But since you live in 'Cupcake, NY' I think you are out of our jurisdiction, and our reality.
-
Seth, I think its time to hire counsel.
-
Good luck Chief. Hope the best for you.

To all of my brothers and sisters in our unending profession and your families,
I hope you have a Merry Christmas. You all deserve it.

P.S. And to all of my fellow friends who will be working tomorrow, like myself, be safe.

Doesn't worry me too much because I am pretty sure the Air Force has already placed in services at least two squadrons of the new F-22 Raptors. <-Way more advanced.

I've been playing with Google Earth for my own purporses at Putnam 911. I've used it for searches and GPS mapping on phones and landing zones. Over the last couple months I have inserted a ton of material. I have it available if anybody would like and I can e-mail it. Of course most of it centers around Putnam County and from what I can tell it can only be used by Google Earth. But also alot of information for Westchester, Orange, Rockland, Dutchess and Fairfield Counties. I'll give the list of info listed and mapped:
County/Town/Village Boundaries
Mile Markers for Taconic, I84, I684, and Palisades
Highway Departments
Dispatch Centers
Fire Departments
Ambulance Corps
Police Departments
MTA Train Stations and Tracks
City/Village/Town Halls
Schools
Senior Centers
Airports
Hospitals
Bridges
Traffic Circles
Fuel Stations
Parks
Lakes
Islands
Beaches

Congrats to Ardsley FD. Its a beautiful looking firehouse. Good luck and be safe.

Now if only we can get him to support and sign the Dispatcher Retirement Bill and stop treating us like second class-first responders.
-
Like I said before we have the Vesta since at Putnam, but we do utilize a full keryboard. Its needed because we also get the TTY/TTD messages and can respond through the phone.
-
Do you mean the VESTA 911 system from Verizon? We have that here at Putnam. I like it better than the old system except that when you have a 911 call and th eother person hangs up it use to be that the caller could not use their phone until 911 disconnected but not it doesn't work that way.
All other things, I really like the system

My prayers for the injured MOS and his family and for the entire Empire State family, I was once part of. They are a great bunch of people who don't deserve this.
