  1. Hey Board. I think this was posted across the way, but, I just wanted to double check about a few things. Which White Plains Firehouse houses Squad 4 and where is it exactly (I saw the backside of it from MNRR this morning).

The other is, where are all the New Rochelle Firehouses? I know Headquarters and Station 3 are, but, I'm not sure where the others are.

All help is appreciated! If I get my photos, I'll send 'em to Seth for posting!

  2. Hey. I hope I'm posting in the right place. This is probably nothing, but, earlier today, I was heading up to Mount Kisco by train, I spotted two City of White Plains PD Motorcycles and a Cruiser headed towards the Bronx River Parkway. Passing Valhalla, I saw the same Car with responding Code 3 (lights and siren, I hope that's still the right term). What happened or was it a nothing? Thanks, just curious, figgered this was the right place to ask.

  3. Ford C's currently in service to the best of my knowledge:

    E57 Scarsdale

    E111 Pound Ridge

    E290 Thornwood

Continental Village had or still has a C Engine

    Past apparatus I recall:

    R14 Ossining

    E205, E206 Mount Vernon

    E65 White Plains

A lot of apparatus pictures can be viewed at LFD171's website. Pictures can be viewed by Department or brand. Great site.

Thanks SteveOFD! No North White Plains? Ah well.

If I may be nosy, which company in OFD? I ask only because Monitor was kind enough to have after their parade some months ago (with Nyack)?

    Thanks.

  4. I don't know if anybody knew this, but apparently one former owner misused and profited off of Empire's old rig by saying that "The Truck Survived 9/11." A member of Empire was lost at the WTC actually. It was ridiculous. I hope the rig goes back into good hands.

BTW- Chris- That is a solid snorkel. Still looks like she has some years left in her, when did Hillcrest buy her/sell her?

    Thanks.

  5. Well hello all, after about a month here, I figger now is a good time to come out and say, ALOHA!

My name is Joe, I have been a Fire Buff all my life, and am working on joining the local volunteers back in Connecticut.

I've been visting EMTBravo since 2005-ish, and just had my first set of photos posted!

If anyone is wondering, 10-Buff-4 means this: "10" as in Department 10 on 44-Control's Band, "Buff" Because that's what I am, and "4" in honor of FDNY Rescue 4, where I have been buffing since 2002 (and am now writing the history of in honor of their 75th Anniversary).

This is a great site and I'm glad to be a part of it and that my photos got posted!

Like our Webmaster, I too like trains and may send some in. wink.gif I actually rode the train to Florida once!

I think I may get verification soon.

I just want to keep feelin things out. Although, I think the Board likes me so far and I haven't stepped on any toes.

Take Care and Stay Safe all, see you at the Fire!

  6. I have two suggestions as a Midway Point- Perhaps New Rochelle (New Roc City) White Plains, or Mount Kisco? Any or all of those is easy for me to get to (via Metro-North.)

P.S. If I could, I'd like to show my photos from the Nyack Chief's Inspection Parade.

  7. NR,

Bunkers? C'Mon.... Johnny Gauge & Roy didn't need Bunkers.

They put out the Fire in Work Pants and Shoes with Turnout Coat,

    Helmet, and SCBA.

    Bunkers only at night!  rolleyes.gif

    Anyone ever catch that? haha

    EMERGENCY!

    "Station 51 responding, KMG365"

I did indeed notice that one Cap! I always wondered about that, especially because Johhny and Roy never had knee length coats. I think LA City FD still does that at non fires, like Technical Rescues.

This is downright stupid. Regulation underwear? Maybe if the city was providing UnderArmour as a service, but, this is ridiculous, especially for $16,000. What is this, the QUeen of England's under things? And also, stripping down is a rarity, so far as I know. Them Canadians and their lack of strong unions..... (And if I'm wrong on that front, my apologies.)

  8. Obviously, I refer to the Bedford Hills Women's Prison in my title, LOL. I was just curious what other apparatus is run by both facilities. I know that Bedford Hills runs the old Engine 197 as Engine 263?. I was just wondering if Sing Sing had any rigs of their own.

I take it also that the Fire Brigades there are run by cross trained Corrections Officers rather than inmates? Thanks.

  9. Hey Board. I really hate flying (I flew in 2005 for the first time in 5 years) and I'm lookin for recommendations on an Airline towards Jacksonville, FL (preferably, a direct flight.) I know Continental does directs from Newark, what's Newark Airport like/is there somebody who does it cheaper out of JFK or LaGuardia? Any and all help is greatly appreciated. I prefer trains; I've done the train run to Florida round-trip twice.

  10. Well, now I'm not interested in Baseball, except who wins the Series, just because I'm something of a sports fan.

Time to wait for next year. I really thought the Mets would do it.

Hopefully, Steinbrenner will stop eviscerating the Yankees and Baseball will remember small ball and clutch hitting.

    Ah well.
