Not Metro area, but upstate....Paramedic trapped in his own house fire; Spencerport, NY.Saw him 2 weeks ago during a bus accident...very much alive and practicing!
I remember this one very well. Still on my 17-year-old tape and still watchable from that tape.

And there was one in Brookfield, it was a chase through Brookfield to New Milford, and I actually got to meet some of the officers! (I was just a kid.)
There it is.
Lots of good segments. I watched it religiously until '95, and still watch my tapes (including one that is 17 years old.)

I believe that there is a law that requires police officers to reside within the State of New York. Until recently, it would have been an issue for police officers to carry a firearm in another state and I know that New Jersey still has restrictions about ammunition that can be carried.I'll try to find the legislation for citation...
Not to open a major Pandora's Box, but, where does the Port Authority Police fit in all of that? Just curious because the Port Authority is a Bi-State agency, and, depending on one's assignment, one could arguably be making a Bi-State patrol on a regular basis.
Speaking of the rest, I don't see why Dutchess, Sullivan, and Columbia Counties in NY or Bergen, Essex, Hudson, and Union Counties in Jersey aren't permissible for FDNY/NYPD et al. The 4 Jersey Counties all share a border and a crossing (GWB, Lincoln Tunnel, Holland Tunnel, Goethals Bridge) with New York City, and, as someone mentioned, parts of Orange County are more remote than Dutchess, Sullivan, or Columbia County and are within recallable driving distance of the city. Just my two cents, it is a sad thing that more Firefighters, Police Officers, EMT's, et al. cannot live within the jurisdiction they protect.

This is B.S. that he is being treated this way. I understand the need for professionalism and, to some extent (no offense to the officers on the road in local towns, colleges, deputy sheriffs, etc.) elitism, but, I would think he would deserve reasonable accommodations. Does ADA not apply to Law Enforcement? This is definitely messed up. If Governor Paterson wants lasting change, he should assent to the law allowing NYSP the same disability benefits mentioned earlier in the thread.
In the meantime, here's hoping that Trooper Mattison can come back in some way to NYSP/stay in Law Enforcement.

I'm by no means an expert on this, but why couldn't you do an FDNY style rope over the roof rescue? I realize that's a last resort, but, wouldn't that work? Just curious. Like I said, I'm definitely not an expert, but it looks like it could be done that way, based on the photo.

Hi Seth... Thanks for the message... Out of curiousity, and I am certain that you and your staff have deliberated and dealt with this issue, will there be "Photo-Moderators"? If you will be posting details soon, I will wait till then.
Thanks.

Hey Seth... I've had lots of photos I've wanted to submit. If there was somehow a Forum-Front Site integration for photos, that would be awesome! That was why I came to Bravo in the first place, another venue for my photos. I don't think it would make the front page obsolete, I think it would attract more people.
If an integration like that isn't perfect, what about having open photo calls and delegating the task to some of the new forum staff to sift through them? Or perhaps a weekly or monthly photo feature?
I think it's a great idea, it would certainly get me more enthused about Bravo. Good luck!

Great pics. Nice to see all of those rigs again. I liked the GMC Young Mini and the old Ford Chief's Car. Question... Why was that Mack rig designated Patrol 16?
Thanks!

Silly question.... But, what's the difference between the Greenburgh PD Ambulance and Greenburgh EMS? I never heard of Greenburgh EMS and thought Greenburgh PD, sorta like Nassau County PD, operated ambulances themselves.
