  1. I disagree, a blue courtesy light does make when you live in a district that the fire house is on the main road which is usually clogged with traffic and it would normally take 45 minutes to drive a 1/8 of a mile, a Blue light makes a big difference. When most of the traffic is stopped they then to be more then willing to give the courtesy to pull on the shoulder and let us safely pass at a speed which is probably less then half the posted speed limit in the area but still a whole lot faster then waiting in the bumper to bumper traffic.

  3. From what I hear, you can get the Federal Signal Rumbler on a Q. So for all those bass lovin' firefighters. :)

    Mike

The Federal Signal Rumbler™ Siren is only an amplifying device and speaker for the vehicles current Electronic siren. So it will defiantly not work with the mechanical Q2B . As far as the E-Q2B™, according to the spec sheet for the Rumbler™ it states…

In order to emulate the sound of the Q-Siren®, the E-Q2B™ uses a digital

signal processor to generate signal containing a complex harmonic

structure. This complex harmonic structure makes the E-Q2B incompatible

    With the Rumbler™ system.”

  4. Our hair traction splint was left at WMC about a month ago; when we went down there about a week ago on another run we went to go look for it. We were told that if it wasn't in the locker by the door, it may be in the basement. After about 10 minutes of wandering around the basement because no one we asked had any idea what it was or some didn't even speak English, we stumbled into a room that no joke had over 200 backboards. If we had more time we would of went through them, because we bet at least 10 are probably ours. If any one has any more info on this room, or if we are even allowed to go though them it probably would be worth wild to get a couple of vacs/fd together to go down one day to sort them out. Also we still haven't found that splint.

  5. It’s that time of year again, when I see more people cleaning there Engines and Ladders then there was on last nights call. What is so big about these parades that are judged? Then you go to a Memorial Day parade or a 9/11 memorial and hardly anyone shows up. Is because there is no trophy given, or no free beer garden at the end? Does it really matter who had the best Engine? Or who had the most in line? Why are these parades such a big deal?

    Amen Brother

  6. I believe the city had American Lafrance rescue style trucks back in the 80’s. Our “Putnam County” Hazmat Truck is a 1982 ALF, which rumor has it was the city’s X-Hazmat Rig, then a collapse truck. If any one has any more info on this or a picture of the truck when it was in service with the FDNY it would be greatly appreciated.
