  1. You guys are right there's no stopping them! They did a standby for us during our Inspection. Somebody told them to "make yourselves at home. Well that's what they did-- they made a sign letting everyone know that it had become one of theirs. But we all know that it's all in fun and that is what keeps things running as well as they do.
  2. Seth!!!! have a SAFE trip and a GREAT weekend ENJOY!!!!!!!
  3. One of the guys in my shop took his Harley down on that run. He said there were 2000 motorcycles all told. He also said that our Senator Vinnie Leibell had arrangements made to cordon off a 4 block area in Little Italy reserved for motorcycles only. He added that the whole thing was very touching. Said it was GREAT!
  4. Well seems there were another 2 LODD Richard O'Brien of Warren RI FD reportedly collapsed at a fire scene,on Friday and later died. Then on Sunday, 24 yr old Eva Schicke, a member of an elite helocopter wildfire crew with California Department of Forestry, became the first female firefighter with CDF to die in the line of duty. She was with six other ff's who were dropped into rugged terrain just outside Yosemite National Park and were overrun by the fire. Her body was recovered Monday Morning. Eva was single, and was a student at California State University-Stanislaus, where she played basketball. She was a part-time seasonal FF and was considered to be among the best firefighters in the system. Rip both firefighters

  7. Well, three years have gone by since one of the worst days in the history of Our Great Nation. I urge all who read this to take a few moments to remember and reflect on that horiffic day and remember not only those who died, but their families as well as all those living and dead who continue to fight terrorism so we may continue to enjoy those things upon which this Nation was built.
  8. Looks like it's gonna start on 10/01
  9. Another sad day in the emergency services RIP, Detectives. Thoughts and Prayers to families friends and the NYPD
  10. There was another LODD, this one in Virginia. A Virginia EMS Captain suffered cardiac arrest at the scene of a motor vehicle accident. EMS Captain Steve Rosenfeld 52, joined the Salem Volunteer Fire Department Culpeper, Virginia in 2002. He had just helped load 2 pts. in the ambulance at approx. 0230 when his colleagues heard him collapse. They found him on the ground near the rig. He was rushed to Culpeper Regional Hospital where he waqs pronounced dead at approx. 0330. He is survived by a wife and 3 daughters. RIP, Captain Rosenfeld
  11. I have a Samsung DC it's a decent camera, but this Digital Rebel seems AWSOME! Can one of you give me the info and price on this thing? Thanks!
  12. GREAT IDEA, WAS967!!! =D> THERE HAS BEEN TOO MUCH AND I AGREE WHOLHEARTEDLY WITH YOU. THIS IS PROBABLY SOMETHING THAT SHOULD BE SET UP ASAP
  13. I agree all valid points. As to ALS comment in these small towns in any county, it would be cost prohibitive to run paid Fire and EMS. Taxes are too high as it is which is a whole matter in itself. Having all full time paid services would be best, but it's a DREAM we all have.
  14. What a shame! Just goes to emphasize the hazards of the job. Thoughts and prayers to Chief DeHurn's family as well as the Officers and Members of NBFD
  15. Here is a site where you can show support for our Troops in the war against terrorism: http//anysoldier.us. Check it out I think you will find it to be a site worth visiting
  16. At Croton Falls we have had AMKUS for years. They work well and we've had minimal problems. I recommend that route.
  17. I agree, 1075. I did go to a Planet Wings in Poughkeepsie once and it was pretty coolas for blowing these no good ?*!#$&^% off the face of the earth-- THE SOONER THE BETTER!!!!!
  18. I prefer Who's Cooking (the former Bob's Superette) in Croton Falls. I haven't had breakfast there, but lunch and dinner are excellent so I'm sure breakfast is just as good. Portofino's in Goldens Bridge Makes a good pizza and yup the blazer is the best "Burger Joint around
  19. I believe that this was required by the OLD FCC rules and regs, probably been revised out in recent updates
  20. FF saves a life he's a hero too soon forgotten. FF gets drunk wrecks a vehicle kills a civilian, FF gives all of us a BIG black eye! Go figure?
  21. =D> Congrats!!!!!! It'll be GRRRRRRRREEEAAAATTTT to have another FI from our local area!!!!! =D>
  22. I've had success with Mothers aluminum polish and Nev-r-dull. They both require a lot of hard work and "elbow grease", but the end result is well worth the work.
  23. I agree with you too, cap. Too many people keep too busy minding everybody elses business and complaining about the little things that they have no time to mind their own! Wyat they don't realize is the fact that the sign may very well provide them with some important information!
  24. Happy Birthday, Seth and MANY returns!!!!!
  25. First of all Congrats to our newest instructors!!!! =D> BUT don't be discouraged by the length of time they take to process. I have been with NYC DEP for over 25 years and the one thing I've learned is that Governmental entities seem to have 2 speeds Slow and stop , but once the paperwork gets started, it Will get fininshe even if at a "snails pace". Anyway CONGRATS and GOOD LUCK!!!!!!
