Last week in New Rochelle, I saw an American LaFrance 110' Rearmount stick that was un-marked except for "110' Aerial Ladder" on the ladder itself. The guys were doing something with it at 666 Pelham Rd. along with E-24 and E-17.

The actual location was on I-684 NB just as it begins from the Hutch NB in between the entrance to I-684 NB from I-287 WB. One car was on its roof with severe body damage and the second car was up a slight embankment not far from the overturned car. Several NYSP, WCPD, and Purchase FD units o/s. One line streched from a Purchase engine. All units were still o/s at 23:15 when I went past it.
Just a correction...Purchase is Rescue 30. In the IA it says R40(which is PC)

Can someone tell me why Port Chester was dispatched with and engine and a truck and not Rye or Harrison ? They are alot closser....and speaking of Poirt Chester....why Brooksville....downtown engines are closer.
Port Chester and Mamaroneck have a long-time relationship when it comes to mutual aid. Engine 62 responded because here in Port Chester, one engine company is designated to be the "out-of-town" engine...it just happened to be ENG 62's month.

The fire was contained to the upper area/roof of the establishment. The actual store was unharmed. There was heavy brush, trees, wood palettes, and other debris burning up the hill on the side of the structure which extended to the second floor and roof. The roof was opened as well as the front of the building while all of the hot spots were being extinguished. Several groups with hooks and axes were used to open up the area of burning woods adjacent to the RR tracks. One booster line and two 1 3/4" lines were used.

Totals for Port Chester are $52,000 in 14 hours.

Rye got dispatched by 60 Control to 422 Midland Ave. X Sylvan & Manursing for a possible structure fire. (*I don't have the times*) Via 155.625(PCRRB PD), Rye PD o/s confirming a working fire, requesting add'l units. Seconds later, 60 Control advises Car 2421 of a second call received for the same location. RFD units o/s confirming. Car 2421 requesting a re-transmit for a 10-75. E193 & E192 both picked up a hydrant. Car 2421 requests 1 & 1 to s/b in their own firehouses. Harrison E13 and VMFD L21 both on s/b. A few minutes later, Car 2421 requests the m/a to re-locate to RFD Milton Rd. firehouse. After the m/a companies got to Rye, there were several calls that E13 and L21 responded to. That's all I got.

I got a few text messages via the IPN network this afternoon saying that the White Plains PD, WCPD & WCPD Helicoptor, GPD, K-9, and other agencies were chasing a suspect through the woods in White Plains (forgot the address) for a rape. Unknown if that just happened or if WPPD was looking for this guy for a while.

Just a couple of years ago, we had to take everything off E64 because the paint was peeling and chipping mostly on the cab. It had to go back a couple of times after that to fix thier mistakes. Our rig is only six years old now and the paint was peeling off. They used a different style of gold leaf on one side of the rig and there is overspray everywhere.

About 20 minutes later all units were advised that they could stand down.

Pro 96 from Radio Shack is an excellent choice. You can’t go wrong. It is a portable digital scanner. You are able to pick of pretty much anything with it. I am 100% satisfied.I have this scanner. With a 3ft. antenna and magnetic mount base. I can hear portables in Peekskill and I picked up 60 Control an hour into NJ from the GWB.

Who would you pick up a bomb after it was next to a fire and take it apart?? That guy's out of his mind.
-
So does it have to say 77A1 to be recognized by the county or something?
-
Look on the rear corner of the ambulance. It says 77-A-11.

I sent in pics of a fire in Purchase in January of this year. They were taken on a Nextel i860. The quality wasn't too bad, but they never got posted. If you have a camera phone, you'd always be prepared to take first hand pics. I'm not sure of the size once it's e-mailed though.

Latest word has it is ALL FDNY apparatus is dumping their hazmat gear for NYPD's trucks. Once the transistion is complete, FDNY will no longer respond to hazmat jobs. 8)Lets remember one big thing here with the NYPD/FDNY Hazmat issue.FDNY will allways have a key role in Hazmat, that will never change. Yes it's true the NYPD will be the IC at Hazmat jobs. However FDNY is in charge of Decon and Life Safety. Life Safety is #1 and nothing can come in the way of that.
Now lets look at Fire Operations. At a Fire what is the #1 life saving tool?????? A Properly placed hose line.
So when we look at Hazmat if in order to accomplish Life safety means we need to stop a leak, plug a hole, etc we are going to do that. Makes no sense to work on patients if we can limit the amount of patients.
So if FDNY doesn't respond to hazmat calls anymore, the NYPD units would have to get fire apparatus also? Hazmat incidents should be handled by the FD and Hazmat team, in my opinion.
