  1. On Sunday June 17, 2001, John Downing L-163, Brian Fahey R-4 and Harry Ford R-4 gave their lives at a fire in a Hardware Store in Astoria Queens. This year marks 6 years since that fateful day. Keep the Downing, Fahey and Ford families in your thoughts and prayers............................... Thank you !

  4. As a fireman, which was on the scene at this fire, i know that time is misinterpreted alot by civilians. where the average person will say that water reached the house after 25 minutes and in fact it was two-three minutes. The fear of losing everything you own makes time lapse when in fact it all happens in seconds. I worked this fire and every man on the job worked hard and did a damn good job, As far as us firemen doing damage to the wall, a FIREMAN KNOWS walls need to be opened to make sure that the fire did not travel up the walls from the initial start in the basement. But of course average civilians like to dictate a job that they have no knowledge about. We are not a wrecking crew, we do what we have to to make sure the fire does not spread upward and out to halt the fire in its tracks. We are all sorry that this happened to this family but we did our best.
