  1. Is posting the link and a short "blurb" still acceptable? EDIT: I noticed my post in EMS was deleted so I'm guessing not.
  2. Geez. CHIEF Pilot??? Seems like just yesterday I was talking his ICS 300 class and he mentioned going to LEARN how to fly a chopper.

  4. I think you're right as I vaguely remember something about the HVA CON coming into play. I didn't know they were operating on the other side of the river tho. So begs the question, what ever happened to the Sloper CONs for Dutchess (full) and Putnam (FR only).

  7. As far as the commerical CONs are concerned, Transcare now possesses two for Dutchess county after purchasing Alamo. I'd imagine eventually they will have to sell one of them as my understanding is, one entity cannot possess two CONs for an area for an extended period of time. Speaking of which, whatever happened to the old Sloper CON when Alamo bought them out? Is that the one that Transcare bought initially?
  8. Anyone know what route they took to get into Manhattan. I know it went through Jefferson Valley but know little else of the route from there. Did they have special permission to go down the TSP?
  9. For those who are interested, the "new" ALS protocols are out on the HVREMSCO site. They are so unimpressive that I'm not going to even bother linking them. You'd think after almost 3 years they could come up with something a little more substantial than just removing procainamide and adding an AMI diversion protocol. You'd think they could at least fix the glaring typos.
  10. Well at least they are building sensibly and not putting up gigantic monsters like some other departments, that will take them decades to pay off.
  11. 12. Related question: Who does/did cover the aforementioned area? On a similar note, does anyone know how Port Jervis is progressing in their bid to upgrade to an ALS agency?
  13. Dare I ask what kind of monstrous firehouse they plan to build? Or are they going to build smart and go for something that meets the requirements (bays for 2 rigs, and minor facilities)? To have kitchens and meeting rooms and lounges in a firehouse for a group of people who mostly live in the northern end of town seems silly. Tho conversely, having a place to "hang out" in puts personnel near the apparatus for response, but then opens a whole other can or worms when people get "bored".
  14. Congrats. Related question tho. The article doesn't mention - what lead to the award. IE, what made him stand out above the other candidates?
  15. Been going on for a few years now at least. Love Cape May. This is just one of many reasons why.
  16. Yeah, I noticed how FOX didn't show Dish as an alternative to Cablevision, just Verizon and DirectTV.
  17. Fox News and FX are indeed both owned by news corp, as is Fox Movie Channel, Fox Sports Net, Speed, FUEL, NatGeo, and just about anything with Fox labeling. I guess the cable channels aren't part of the negotiations, just the broadcast channels. Cablevision claims FOX wants 150 mil, or more than they pay for all the other broadcast networks combined. If that is indeed true, then that does seem rather ridiculous.
  18. Out of curiosity, what shows up when you tune into FOX or My9? Can I assume this covers the other FOX networks as well (Fox News, FX, etc)?
  19. So then this begs the question. Do all the PDs that carry Oxygen have MD authority to do so? They aren't DOH certified vehicles so how do they meet any requirements to carry oxygen? (Provoking thought here, not debate.)

  21. The problem comes down to personal liability. If you crash and ambulance and the investigation discovers that you are on the tail end of a 28 hour stretch with little rest, and one company has a policy against working more than X hours straight, then you could find yourself up against a well. The company insurance might disallow the claim leaving you out in the rain holding a broken umbrella.

  23. Wonder which medic drew the short straw on THAT one. Awesome job. Know anyone involved in the effort? Let's hear it.
