  2. Since I was the Medic on this call, I think I can shed some light on this subject.

Yes NYSP kinda witnessed this accident, Motorcycle vs Auto.( Head On) The auto sustained heavy front end damage and the bike was totalled. The sole operator of the bike was thrown about 30 feet.

The reason I requested STAT Flight before I got there was the communication between 11-1-3 and myself. His update to me made it quite clear the patient was serious.

It actually worked out like it should, we packaged and had the patient to the LZ in about 10 minutes and only waited about 2 minutes for STAT Flight to land. The other option was a rush hour trip to Danbury. He was admitted to WMC in critical condition but expected to recover. We wont go into the specific injuries here.

Carmel VAC was requested to tend to the driver of the auto, who RMA through his father.

A great job was done by all and I thank all the members of BFD for there help, everyone worked very well together as usual.

  3. Well good luck grumpy, Im sure Patterson Fd will be glad to have you, especially for EMS during the day. Guess I will get to meet you one day since I work out of that station.

As far as Schools Carmel are fairly good. If you have any kids the grammer school will be Matthew Patterson, the middle school will be George Fischer, and the High School will be Carmel.

As far as shopping and stuff, you will pretty much find everything between the center on 311 and 22, and just North on 22 there is a lot of stuff just over the line in dutchess. Plus A&P and Mobil are open 24hrs....

Good Luck again and refresh on your DRAFTING/TANKER skills..lol

  4. Speaking for myself as a ALS provider both in Westchester and in Putnam, I have all the respect for the EMTS and other members of the EMS crews that come out day in and day out.

What I dont like is the same as WAS said, that some of them are ALS reliant, god knows I have been trying to help them not be ALS reliant. But I think th only way that will happen is when MEdics are stopped being dispatched on every single call no matter what it is for.

  7. If I am not mistaken because the airport is " County Property", 87-A-1, gets dispatched out there for EMS calls, instead of tying up the local department. But knowing directly how the whole airport situation is usually handled you never know.

I know in the past for on airport property fire calls, or incidents they will dispatch Purchase FD, Armonk FD, and Port Chester or Rye Brook FD.

If the incident is off the grounds of the airport they are suppose to dispatch secondary departments, in addition to the first three, to respond to there specific staging areas and await insructions. I dont know if they still do this or not.

  9. I think if Westchester adopted a radio plan like Putnam and Dutchess has, I bet half of the problems would be solved. It works very well in these two counties and I cannot see why it wouldnt work in Westchester with all the low band frequencies allotted to them.

    IE: 46.260 DISPATCH ONLY

46.140 Responding,On location, Updates...etc ( or any way you want to configure it)

Then you can assign the other channels as firegrounds. I know there are all those other frequencies out there for firegrounds, but most arent being utilized because of money or pride issues. The frequencies are there already, just someone at WC-DES have the guts to make the changes to improve the communication problems in Westchester. Most every department has more then one if not all of the low band frequencies in there radios as it is.

Another problem that can cut radio traffic down, is why does every piece of apparatus, and every chief have to go 10-8 or 10-40 or whatever. Whoever the Incident Commander on the scene is just needs to make one transmission to 60 Control and say : example dept only- 2501 to 60 Control, all West Harrison Units are back in service and returning. Thats it end of story..no one else needs to say it ( no offense Vito just using WHFD as an example)

  10. I know we dont have a formal critique after incidents, maybe you could call it an informal one. I have been involved in a few of them over the years and think they are an excellent learning and teaching tool. MAybe this is something that not just I but other members of departments make a mention to there Chiefs and officers.

The bunch that I have been involved with we all learned what good things that we did, some of the mistakes that were made, and though not intended got a good laugh at some of the pictures that were taken.

How can reviewing what actually went on not be a good teaching and learning tool.

  11. truck 51 hope that was a typo... but it might help you that the frequencies are

    46.380 and 46.440..

that crossband frequency works ok if your on the west side of Putnam but dosent work for crap on the east side. Dont know what more you can do to listen except maybe park at 112 Old Route 6 in Carmel..lol

    sorry...............
